Thank you to all the veterans of the armed forces; you have sacrificed time with your family, freedom, and risked your life to keep us a free nation. You are appreciated by many Americans every single day.

Agree Frank though if recent history is any guide, all our enemies have to do is pepper the battlefields with McNuggets and our soldiers wilt and run for the hills.

Got a VFW hall by the office, always dropping stuff off to these guys, helping them out. Painted the interior last year. Had some leftover paint, had 2 guys in for the day. A lovely lavender! no
Fixed toilets, doors, etc

God bless all veterans and their families.

If you are a fellow veteran, I salute you for your service. If you currently have a loved one serving, please thank them and honor them.

I'm proud to say I served in the US Navy from 1983-1989. If any other board members served, please tell us about your service.

Salute'! :salut:

I got drunk in Lousiana from 2008-2011. Didn't do much besides train with people that went and did shit. Met some people that never came back which was pretty tough.

Nuke?

No, KE. I served onboard a submarine tender which was a surface ship that stocked, supplied and repaired subs. Some nuke subs were along side of us and their security was fierce! My ship was basically Sam's Club, SportClips, Pep Boys and Jewel/Osco for submarines.

By the way, I was a cook & baker and had so many guys in any department that I could get anything I wanted at any time of the day. I didn't even have to shine my boots - I just got my storekeeper guy to give me new ones. A can of coffee, dozen donuts and a few bacon cheeseburgers for a crew on a long watch could get you anything on board a ship! I even got my mail before the Captain. 8)

http://ragsofhonor.us/

I heard the guy from this place, Mark Doyle, interviewed on WGN this morning. He employs homeless vets to design, produce and ship military/veteran/Chicago themed T-Shirts and apparel.

They recently partnered with The Blackhawks for merchandising, etc. Mark Doyle contacted all five pro teams in the city for an opportunity and only the Hawks would even listen to his pitch.

Another classy move by The Hawks classy and veteran friendly organization.

Denied. Since they get their own day, there's no mail today and I was expecting something. Now I have to wait another day.

Either way you better have plenty of medics. These guys would get injured digging a foxhole.

So, Fella, I've got a buddy at work who retired a Chief from a tender, mostly in Italy... he had it great, as well. And the stories- oh my!

I'm very glad my company is extremely veteran-friendly, had a supervisor once tell me the only people to hire are ex-Navy or farm folk like me

I'm happy you work for someone who practices discriminatory hiring practices.
