You may remember this guy from last year when he scored 138 points for Grinnell during a Division III basketball game. Today, he proved it wasn't just a fluke, as he poured in 109 points.

Isn't this the team where the entire offense is designed to get 1 shooter every single shot for the entire game and they play no defense at all intentionally?

Jake Taylor was easily the worst off the field dressing ballplayer of all time. Those Amish no collar dress shirts got to go.

So what you're saying is that coach doesn't run a lot of stuff?

Deadspin has a nice piece about this that explains why its a bullshit record and a mockery of the game.

This kid deserves a DB nomination and a beatdown for taking this many shots.

Yup.

It would be somewhat acceptable if they did it against similar competition. This team wasn't NCAA or even NAIA. It's some league that is even lower than that.

This game was considered an exhibition for the opponent. This would be like if they showed up and did this against the next CSFMB hoops event.

I agree. If it were an effective strategy to win though I'd see some value in it though. This is just embarrassing an over matched opponent.

It's not even like college football where they at least they pay you to get blown out.

Hawk was rocking the Dr. Evil suit years in advance. What a fashion visionary. That pic is awesome.

The premise of the offense/defense is simple - get as many shots as you can and trade 3's for 2's.

You press full court and leave the top guy down to cherry pick while you let the team play you 5 on 4. You outlet to that guy on the other end, they jack up a shot. Change the team every 30-45 seconds. Not much strategy involved.
