Refs were awful today. Blew the early call on the touchback, McClellin's "late hit" was bullshit, and the complete pass that was ruled incomplete and then challenged was ( ithought) a completed pass.

You're leaving the delay of game off the list. That was even worse the bullshit personal foul and touchback call.

It was already pointed out in another thread, but this happens every game at least a couple times and isn't called...

You're right. I think it is more of the refs giving them the benefit of the doubt early in games. I cannot recall seeing that call missed late in a big game.

Fuck all you little Green Bay fans. And if you're from Illinois, just go off yourselves.

I was called a baby, after the atrocious officiating in the Lions/Ravens Monday night game.

I have to say, that I am enjoying this a bit.

Refs are probably afraid to make that call.

Shea's hit was a clear-cut late hit penalty. You can't just jump on a guy after he's been tackled. The refs were bad though

Shea was already falling down and he was trying to stop himself. That isn't called if Rodgers isn't coming off an injury.

The Cowboys just totally got shafted by the play clock. Witten was tackled and the 40 second play clock started, all of the sudden it switches to 25 and they got a delay of game.

It's called every time even 15 years ago. He had plenty of time and ability to not jump on a guy who was already down. He chose to jump on him. Textbook late hit

I agree with both FF and Nas. It's probably overlooked in any other circumstance.

But, given it's 99 and Rodgers, it was late enough to call.

he wasnt tackled, he gave himself up. It wasnt a full slide, it was like he sat down.

I honestly think it is just time to make QBs 2 hand touch! When Rodgers ran later, you dont know if he is going to dive head first, like he did and then you can hit him or if he slides, then you basically cant touch him.

I have been on this way before Rodgers today, but he did just sit down and honestly I am not sure if thats "a slide" or a fall down?

Many times guys are int he process of the tackle and then need to adjust due to the fact the QB slid or didnt, and its just not possible. Guys land next to or over the QB.

The 2 hand touch rule would be better than the slide or no slide.

Russel wilson abuses this rule all the time. Runs outside, gets down and sometimes slides, sometimes he fakes the slide, etc.

I dont think a QB should have an advantage on any play because of a rule that is only made to protect them,.

How about just making things much simpler and saying that once a QB leaves the pocket he is no longer afforded any protections that any other offensive player with the ball wouldn't be afforded?

I thought this was already the rule. RB's are hit late all the time. They even get tackled after the whistle.

If a running back or receiver just falls down and someone rolls over on him like the play today, I really doubt any official would even consider throwing a flag.

That is what it used to be?

The point is to protect the QB's, which is fine, but dont want them having an edge due to the rule.

Yeah, I agree...that's what I'm saying...if he's sitting in the pocket, doing QB stuff, yeah, protect the shit out of him.

But once he leaves the pocket and decides he's going to run the ball, fair game.

NBC Postgame just showed the missed FG in the KC/SD game where SD had seven guys on the line of scrimmage on one side of the ball (can't have more than 6 apparently)...

...so I'll have to hear that from my Steelers fan brother for the next 8 months...

Exact same play with Nick Foles with just over two minutes left in the Boys-Eagles game last night.

"Good no call there." from Al Michaels.

No one told Clete Blakeman that.

Absolutely not

A textbook late hit is a guy who dives at a tackled player. McClellin was pursuing and tried to pull up.

At best it was a ticky tack call, but it was certainly not "textbook"
