Bears long snapper Mannelly expected to return What a great story. Making $1.5M to snap a football. A model of professionalism and consistency. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/fo ... 1346.story |

I was going to douchebag him a couple of weeks ago for even considering retirement. I'm sure his spouse helped him to arrive at this decision. |

Are you even allowed to hit the long snapper initially in the play? I thought there was some rule against pile driving the guys head into his torso since they were in a vulnerable position from the snap. |

I've always heard he never practices at center. They always comment that Mannely/Podlesh/Gould are off on the sidelines playing GM all the time. Nobody lists him as 2nd string. http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/depth/_/nam ... cago-bears http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/dept ... cago-bears http://www.chicagobears.com/team/depth-chart.html Never knew the guy's name was Eben until now. Thought it was Evan. |

Mannelly is no slouch. You usually hear his name in punt coverage, too. If only all the Bears could do their jobs like him. |

If you are a fringe NFL player it would be wise to develop a skill like Mannelly. |

Funny you say that. Was talking to some Dad's at kid's football game this past season. We decided the safest surest way for our white suburban kids to make the NFL. Start long snapping now. |

Start long snapping now. You can make a very long career out of it. It's been about 18 years for him. IIRC he came in with Wanny. |
