its not the same product. that is a $20 battery operated 72 lumen flashlight. looks like a nice one though.

mine is roughly 10x the lumen output and not only that, with a larger flood pattern. that one claims to light up a whole room?!?! its 72 lumens with a 120deg pattern! mine can output the equivalent of a 100w incandescent bulb- and thats no bullshit because it floods 360deg with the eye shield taken off, just like old bulbs could.

also, mine is designed to be industrial strength. its made to be used by mechanics all day, every day. not a cheap tool! think snapon grade. think droplights that get soak in oils and absolutely beat to fuck every day... mine is designed to do that, with the most light output, in one of the smallest profiles, while also being one of the safest overall droplights on the market.

like i said, though, its pro grade with a pro grade price. not too many shade tree mechanics will want to spend $100 on a drop light, but most everyday mechanics already have- and those 'professional' drop lights last less then a year before falling apart. this hasn't just been some hobby endeavour, i really think i created the best droplight on the market- and i mean the professional market. snapon/bluepoint, mac tools, anything on the national electric reels... any of them. the fact i can produce them in a garage is the surprising part to me... i originally thought i could just get some prototypes done, but i actually went all the way to a final design that can i can produce myself. i think i can do a few hundred lights a month once i get inventory funds, but if im making that many i will have funds to hire help too.

i chose not to go that route for safety reasons. and because it would change the entire profile of the light, making it twice the size. plus lights have had receptacles in them for years, and they always become loose leaving guys to just use extension cords anyway.

I love them. Then I can just carry one trouble light instead of a trouble light and an extension cord. If the receptacle gets loose I'll just toss the fucker and buy a new one.

for general use, those old style trouble lights work fine. for mechanics working on cars all day its a whole different story.

I see that.
I would love to have a trouble light that has a nice magnet on it and a swivel head... but runs on AC and has the 10amp plug, because I have to carry around 70w bulbs cause they last me like 4 weeks at best cause I bump it on stuff all the time.

What about a normal extension cord, say 40ft, with one of those 3-gang outlets on the end? I could easily make a light with just a 10ft cord to plug into the extension cord, and that would leave you with a light plus two outlets. That would be best of both worlds, wouldn't it?

Otherwise, it really wouldnt be hard to just move the power supply down the cord near the light, say 6ft off, and add an outlet into that. I would probably make it a metal bell box though, because it would get thrown around and stepped on a lot. The only problem I foresee would be the bulkiness/weight at the outlet box, but maybe that wouldn't be much of an issue in construction use because the light stays stationary for the most part. I would use quality outlets too.. maybe not hospital grade, but they would be dozens of times more durable then what you get in those other lights.
