Getting past their semi-laughable history and dreadful current roster, their new pregame floor projection show is pretty fucking neato.

I visited a friend there back in November and we caught a game. The pre-game intro was great. One of the best.

The Bulls have one of the worst pregame intros I've seen besides the Bucks. It's in desperate need of an update. Gets some pyrotechnics or something. They light off like 4 bottle rockets, and that's it.

I was watching the game, and thinking "CGI Bulls? Really in this day and age?"

This was like 2 years ago...

Flames shoot out of the scoreboard. That's pretty much all I remember. Compared to the bulls, it was the greatest thing ever.

Why did they "honor" Ilgouskas?

For his high vowel to consonant ratio.

Longevity, I suppose. He was their only constant through those really bad pre-LeBron years.

everything about the Bucks is in desperate need of an update....walking around the arena was like being in a 80's shopping mall

Lloyd Pettit had his wife's family build the Bradley Center for an NHL team, which they then weren't allowed to get because Bill Wirtz was a cocksucker and said Milwaukee was too close to Chicago (in a league where Hartford, Manhattan, Long Island, North Jersey, and Philadelphia all had teams). As a result, the Bucks and Marquette ended up moving into a building that was way too big for them in terms of capacity and footprint.

There was a funny piece in the J-S where a Bucks' p.r. hack outlined everything that was insufficient about the Bradley Center, necessitating a brand-new arena. It was like "the roof leaks and the door hinges are rusty." Then patch the roof and replace the door hinges, you dumb fucking dick.

I always wondered why there was no NHL hockey in Wisconsin.

Part of it is Wirtz but the other part is that the bedrock of Wisconsin hockey is actually away from Milwaukee and its environs, more an adjunct of Minnesota than anything, really. It's huge up around La Crosse/Eau Claire, big in Madison, but Milwaukee has never really taken to it the same way. Couldn't give you the numbers for 1989 when Milwaukee expansion talk was bandied about, but consider that today, about 75% of Illinoisans live in/around Chicago whereas only 35% of Wisconsinites live in/around Milwaukee. This is really unfavorable for winter-weeknight scheduling both ways: because games on shitty January Thursdays necessarily can't be super-planned tailgate-party day trips for outstaters like Packers and Brewers games are (the statewide followings allow them to exist and even thrive despite the relative smallness of metro Milwaukee), you're forced to work within a smaller radius. This doesn't work for the hypothetical hockey team because they're generally outside that radius, and it doesn't work for their actual NBA team because the Bucks are a flaming bag of kerosene-soaked shit and why bother.

The greatest pre-game basketball show ever was at Gordon Tech in the 70s when Dick Versace was there. It was like the fucking Globetrotters or something. These guys came out on an orange carpet and did this thing Versace called "Pretzel and Tips" where they would run a sort of weave with guys throwing the ball off the backboard and trailers tipping it and then Lee Arthur Scott would slam one down. I'm sure aggravated Bob could confirm.

Nothing typifies Cavalier futility like Ilgouskas standing next to Varajeo in their highlight reel.
