Just scored 56 in a tourney loss to Okafor. State record. He's a Junior. Go get him Groce. |

Just got home from a day of mostly ILL INI alums, all talking like Dr Ken. Groce has it going in the right direction, Assembly Hall going to be nice, Orange Crush isnt cool anymore, lol An ILL INI up year is being the 5-6th team in the Big 10. They are never going to be DePaul because the Alums care about the program and crank money into it, but I dont think the ILL are keeping with the Johnsons and the Chris collins of the world. I don't them, just think they have a hurdle in front of them in Mich, Mich St, OSU, Wisc even Indiana, Nebraska, Iowa are hurdles right now they need to leap. I can only assume Maryland will be just as good , if not better. If ILLINOIS ever has that up year, and goes to a second round NCAA game, I see Groce taking another job if available. |

From the things I've read, I still think the kid really wants to go to Illinois, but no way is his old man going to let him. These are the kind of players you absolutely have to keep at the state school. |

IHSA almost suspended him for doing this to the Whitney Young fans. |

It would be shocking if Northwestern even makes the NCAA tournament next year. It will be very surprising if Illinois doesn't make the tournament next year. |

I'm not sure where bigfan thinks Groce is going to go. Sure, if he has a chance to go to Ohio State, he might grab it. He's an Ohio guy. I don't think that's a reflection of Illinois or the standing of its basketball program. It seems that some people want to define Illinois as a stepping stone job based on nothing more than Bill Self leaving to head up the program that was built by the guy who invented the game. |

Most jobs are either about making more money or making comparable money and a more personal connection. I'm pretty sure that Tom Crean would jump from Indiana to MSU in a second if he was offered the job. Luckily for IU, they are stuck with him forever. We had Roy Williams leave Kansas. I think that showed that no job is immune. |

He will go to any school that offers him a better situation than he currently has. Groce is not a guy that comes off like a one school lifer. He is a mover. If he is able to do some good things at Illinois he will take the best opportunity that comes his way. If he is not able to do some good things he will be fired. Either way Groce is not going to be a long term guy in orange and blue. |
