Still a bit Sox heavy on his overall baseball commentary, but Steve (without Hawk) and I guess without B&B, is actually a pleasure to listen to.

On this morning with Matt and Barry, Hit and run, Pitch and Bat, throw and go and he started telling stories about guys he played with, comparing them to players today, then adds in a Ron Blomberg eating 42 lobster tails at an all you can eat buffet.

Stone without Hawk, a good listen
DJ, without Hawk a solid baseball announcer.

Stone with Hawk is fine.

Funny how the majority of people who have a problem with Hawk aren't even Sox fans.

It's not funny. It's completely logical.

No, what's funny is that the majority of people who have a problem w/ Hawk ARE Sox fans.

No.

Fans of the cubs and the Sox alike would agree that a big problem with Hawks likability would be his over exuberant homerism. Sox fans love it. Cubs fans don't. That's one easy reason why you're wrong. Again.

Hawk is just a bad guy. The world will be a better place when he dies!

One day you'll learn it is impossible to be wrong in regards to a subjective opinion. God willing, that day isn't too far off.

Imagine if Hawk Harrelson still did games for the Red Sox and actually had a reason to be a homer.

Wrong again!

I like Hawk and hate the Sox. Farmio and Hawk are how I picture most Sox fans. On the flip side, Kasper is how I picture most Cub fans.

Stone is the best of the bunch and I bet he doesn't even like the Sox or the Cubs.

I'm not entirely sure what qualifies one being a "homer".

If being a "homer" were to only mean making it clear you want 'your' team to win, being more exuberant about home-team home runs, and that kind of thing - I'm all fine with that; I don't need an unbiased robot ... that's what a box-score is for.

If it's pretending flaws don't exist, not being appropriately critical at times, pretending umpires have secret vendettas, pouting about calls innings, games, months, or even seasons later - then yeah that's dogshit.

I love the Cubs and hate the Sox - that's just how it's always been and I'm fine if everyone else in the western world thinks that's insane ... I'm not some bi-curious (so to speak) Chicago baseball fan and don't exactly see the intellectual superiority in being otherwise.

That said, I'd be pleased as punch if, the Cubs weren't on, I could turn on the White Sox game because I love baseball as a whole and would like to watch the other product in town (albeit hopefully in a losing effort, but I'll still live my rich, full life if they happen to win).

The problem is I opt to virtually never do so because their lead announcer is (imo) a horrible distraction from the product on the field too often to just ignore.

Stone is very good regardless who he broadcasts with. Best in town.

Hawk is funny. I love how he gives everyone the silent treatment when the Sox are losing, like he's some woman who's husband made the grave mistake of insinuating that her jeans make her hips look wide.

Im bored with Hawk. He should have retired after 2005. Stoney is a class act but it is time for some new blood.
I long for the radio days of Rooney and Farmer.

Except for that small part of him not talking much when he is with Hawk, you would be correct.

He talks plenty with Hawk. His biggest problem is his hyperbolic descriptions of the pitching. Quintana threw 120 pitches today and just barely got out of the 6th. Only allowed one run, but he certainly wasn't at his best. And it was a "brilliant outing" according to Stone. Last start Danks gave up 3 ER over 6 and it was "excellent". Every time a starting pitcher for the Sox has an ok start it's either excellent, very strong, brilliant, etc.

He is so subdued when he sits with the old man making shit up. I would guess Stone doesnt agree with 50% of what Hawk says and he then just goes silent instead of fighting with him on air.

Hawk leaves Stone really nowhere to go.
