The guy had every reason to keep his name in the running for the GM job there. Being a GM, I will assume is his goal at one point, it's San Diego (never hurts), he is from San Diego, but he chose to stay with the Cubs. I would give the Shoutout, even if it wasnt the Cubs. The guy has a plan and wants to be a part of this thing when it gets good. Now, I just hope his plan works. FYI, have been able to sit down with him a couple of times and talk. Once at the Computer store, he was getting his laptop fixed and another at the Salt and pepper. Yes, he truely is a good dude. |

Sox and Cubs seem to have good guys as GM right now. World of difference from the last 2. |

I can't think of two more thin-skinned baseball GM's. Not sure about Kenny but I thought Hendry was. He was close with Wood and other players and the story about the Ted Lilly signing showed how much he cared. I got to witness the best baseball I've ever seen in Chicago with both of them as GM so that does influence my opinion somewhat. |

Hopefully that continues to hold over all White Sox fans for the future. As a fan of a sports team, I don't care whether my last championship was two years ago, 10 years ago, or 100 years ago. I want to know when my next championship is coming. Is any Hawks fan not upset by getting bounced this past post-season because "oh well...we've won a couple recently...let's have another team enjoy their own championship moment." Fuck that. |

Two? Did I forget one? 2008? Two. The point still stands. Championships don't last longer than the season you win the championship in, and playoff appearances last just the same. |

I wouldn't be putting up with this complete tear-down rebuild if I was going to be happy with one and then deal with multiple decades of further torment. I require a reasonable period of success. |

How many do I expect? Zero. I'm a Cubs fan. How many for me to be truly happy? At least a couple...surrounded by many seasons of competing / making the playoffs even in seasons that don't result in a World Series. I'd be 'accepting' with no World Series wins as long as The Plan results in teams I can be proud of. Still won't be extremely happy...but I'd be somewhat content. |

I'll take one World Series win every twenty years but I guess that is setting low expectations. |

It always amazes me how some people value playoff appearances more than actual titles. I'm not trading with the Tigers even though they have more recent playoff appearances. |
