Congratulations! The world is now yours! You didn't even have to secede from the NCAA to do it!

When does the top tier of the power five break away from the bottom third of the power five?

As soon as the NCAA basketball tourney doesn't make them $$.

So, probably never?

NCAA Basketball doesn't matter.

The tournament does. If you think differently ($) you are wrong.
It's not football, but it's big enough that it "matters".

CBS makes $$ every single year off of Bryce Drew and Valpo (one example).
If there is $ to be made, they will not drop the money makers.

Not one move by a power five conference team was done with basketball in mind. When they do eventually break away the tournament will not be worth nearly as much.

Never.

There is a reason that teams in New York and Chicago don't break away from teams in Cleveland and Milwaukee.

I'm not sure that's true. Your Cinderellas will just be Purdue and Vanderbilt instead of Valpo and George Mason.

There is no reason they can't invite teams from other conferences to the "College Basketball Championship" tournament. The Power Five conferences will just keep 90% of the money while the players from the small schools will get a nice check for $1,000 and the smaller school gets a small cut too.

I doubt this is helping the universities' argument that the players aren't employees.

Well when the complete break happens it will be hard to have a tourney the casual person will watch that is 16 teams big. Unless you are just gonna have a season that is a giant round robin and all 65 teams are allowed in.

I cant wait for the Kessler lawsuit to go through and caps on scholarship money are completely lifted. Then shit will get really crazy.

Allow 64 of the 65 in the big boys tournament...65th team gets booted to the mid majors and the winner of the other tournament gets invited in.

There is no reason they can't still invite teams from the Big East and A10 and other non-football conferences.

No. That will pretty much suck. I mean, I've basically accepted the fact that it's going to be destroyed but I'd prefer that college sports wasn't.

An uncapped compensation system combined with no draft isn't going to be worth watching especially when in terms of talent there are better options out there.
