indeed, india's tour of england has provided me with a proper means to get introduced to the super-hardcore OG version of baseball, and after roughly a week of watching i finally figured out what the fuck is going on and why.... and man, it's kinda fun. the best part is that there's an intelligentsia amongst the fandom where the wit and/or banter is top notch, if not a little homoerotic undertoney.
but comeon, who doesn't wanna be down with these guys when india captain MS (dos) Dhoni belts out a 6 (the equivalent of a HR)
anyways, this shoutout comes because this morning when i woke up i had to get my cigarettes from the gas station. india was 100-2 already and looking like they were going to school england on the ODI (one day international aka 50 overs) front and as i was at the gas station i asked the indian dudes working there if they like cricket, to which the guy was like "ohhh yeah" so i flip the phone around to show him that india's up 100-2 right now and england's bowling is piss poor because captain allstar cock crunch (alastair cook, who has that requisite ~2% inbred charm of a proper subject of the queenie) is in over his head because they essentially pick test cricket players for ODIs when you need mashers in the top and bottom of your lineup. and after the piss poor showing by india at the end of the test series that wrapped up last weekend, it's gonna be sweet justice for india because they're way better at limited overs such as T20 (20 overs aka ~3-4hr games) and ODI (50 overs, aka all day one day games) because the big thing in india is the IPL, where they routinely pack 80k indians to watch T20 and many speculate that since the BCCI (india's corrupt/whiny/perpetually-moaning cricket board) loves their IPL they basically stunt indian players to perform on their home soil and dont allow them to go play sunday/weekend/county cricket abroad and that's a disadvantage in test cricket on the road.
and then of course i had to point out that sachin tendulkar still can sell out a house when he does casual tours (because he properly retired from test/international cricket last year) and sachin tendulkar is basically indian michael jordan.
so funny thing happened... i buy my cigarettes and i'm supposed to get $1 change.... but instead i get $6 change, which is funny when the cigarettes cost like $4.50.... so i'm willing to think that the guy wanted to hook me up for being down with cricket and giving him a proper update on the england v india ODI going on right now.
that's the power of cricket man, cuz in the end, really, "it's more than just cricket" says the guy giving you a reach around as you're one of the few, the proud the "it-getters"
</pointless sinipost> maybe this should be in the brag about something nobody cares about thread, but hey cricket's gotta get a shoutout. now i just gotta befriend the right indians to get a nice posh $20/hr job at a 7-11 somewhere cuz if you dont know how 7-11s work and realie that the guy working there is family/friend of the owner and likely $20+/hr, well, you need more punjab sikh friends growing up.
