That victory over ND was better than any crap bowl win they would get invited to with 6 wins.

Thank you to Mike Mitchell, the FG Kicker! Amazing clutch performance!

thanks for letting me know Jimmy. I'll pull out my NU sweatshirt and wear it to Mass tomorrow.

Sincere congrats to all NU fans, my niece (NU frosh) included. Clearly deserved to win. The 'Cats had great numbers on offense.

Most points scored against ND by any NU team in the schools' matchup history.

ND will not play another B1G team until 2016 (MSU at ND, 9/17/16).

That first one set off what I consider to be the biggest and most shameless bandwagon in this city's history

The 03 Cubs came close but with Northwestern it went from no one giving a fuck to Northwestern hats and Jackets all over the city.

Congrats to Fitz and the team though. Nice win.

I remember NU paraphernalia being sold in Marshall Field's that year. It was insane. I cannot really blame them as bowl games still held importance back then and this was more than a generation in the making. I remember seeing video as a kid of fans tearing down the goalposts after breaking the nation's longest losing streak.

A word to the wise: NEVER charge the field. Scariest experience of my life. If you go down, you are dead.

I used to watch The Dennis Green Show regularly when he was in Evanston, so I've been following all through Gary Barnett, etc.

The only negative I can see from Saturday's game is that now Fitz' profile has been somewhat enhanced, increasing the chance NU could lose him -- if you're going to have a good win, do in on NBC nationwide.

I don't think he's inclined to move on, but there will definitely be interest from other schools for his services -- that may not have had him on their radar screens before.

No question he did the superior coaching job in readiness for ND.
