Emery nailed that one.

I just posted this in the Trestman thread. Dude could still outrun the entire Bears defense. Great job Phil!

Gotta give J Pep credit. He lost some weight and made the conversion to LB and is playing great.

he seems to be enjoying life as a Packer. Even got in a Lambeau leap today! Good for him. I don't blame the Bears for not retaining him at his old salary. It is just unfortunate they couldn't have signed him to a lesser amount......like they gave Allen???

I believe the cap hit they took and what they gave Allen was more than they had to pay him.

Do you think he would be contributing as much here, had he stayed? I doubt it. I think he needed the change of scenery and a spot on a team going somewhere. Now he's a motivated player.

I agree with that. He's playing hard for Green Bay and as shitty as theBbears have been, he'd be more inclined to "take a few games off" from playing hard as he was want to do.

I think he would have played hard for another contract. Just like he's doing in Green Bay. He knows that he will be cut if he sucked this year. Let's not forget the Packers were bad at the start of the year and his last 2 years on the Bears they competed for a playoff spot. Finished 10-6 and lost to the Packers on the last play of the game because he couldn't bring down Rodgers.

Peppers is playing a totally different position with the Packers.

One that is easier on him physically and is better suited to his talents at this point in his career. The Bears had no such place for him.

Most people here were ready to drive Peppers out of town and now you all act like you were always on his bandwagon.

Shows just how bad the coaches are though. They all have to go. Every one of them.

I thought Peppers would be a disaster. Pleasantly surprised. He's been doing well in the pass game but sucks in run defense.

Pep has always been bad at run D. He's been a great pass rusher this year.

Peppers was perenially probably the best D end against the run in the NFL. This is one of the worst thoughts I've ever seen. Even with the Bears, he was great against the run.

He was in denial during the Bears years, but to say always and include the Panthers years takes it to the next level.

The weakest part of Peps game has always been run D.

Agreed. Flashes of former greatness. There is no one who is making this defense good.

I always thought Peppers run D was strong. His pass rushing was where he was routinely criticized because he got pressures, hurries or whatever but not the volume of sacks of specialists like Allen. Last year was when I noticed his run D suffering as RBs were able to turn around the edge more often.

The funny thing is all during his Bears tenured we would always hear about his injuries or how he looks injured. He joins the butcher shop in Green Bay and he's been healthy. I'm still nervous about his season long viability. A lot snaps on his wheels.

Julius Peppers' only weakness, even early in his career, was getting separation from his blocker and getting disengaged. He could bull rush any offensive lineman in NFL history and be very successful. He is a freak. His run defense was always superb as a result. Teams purposely didn't even run to his side early in his career.

Best football player Urlacher has ever seen. Maybe Brian isn't as dumb as he sounds.
