Even though it's so unpopular, it's amazing how much action this board gets when a couple second division teams sign players. These guys won't even be playing for six months! Let's get back to talking about the popular sport of football. Did Jay Cutler take a shit yet this morning? |

JORR, look at M.L.B. The best pitchers are the Starters. They go six innings. So M.L.B. is the one product where lesser talented players, THE GLORIFIED BULLPENS, determine the outcome of most games. |

I agree that I liked the game better when the starters were expected to go nine innings. But we're old guys. That's the game we grew up with. I'm not sure the younger real baseball fans like RPB and IMU wouldn't argue with us about that. I mean, some people might say that big lunkhead that comes in in the seventh inning throwing 102 mph is a lot tougher to hit than Tommy John was after 124 pitches. |

Baseball is the king of sports. There are, in this world, those that understand this basic fact, and there are the chaff. There is nothing inherently wrong with football, basketball, or hockey as sports ... other than they're not baseball, of course. |

| Who doesn't? Are you a racquetball player, DannyB? Something you mentioned in one of your posts made me think you used to be a member at the now-defunct Edens Athletic Club. I used to play there all the time. It was a great place and a throwback to a much earlier era. I actually met the great photographer Art Shay there and had many interesting conversations with him about Nelson Algren and Chicago history/culture. |
