Just wanted to give props to my guys. As most of you know, our teammate lost his 2 year battle with cancer last month. He left behind a wife and 3 kids under 6. A few weeks ago several of my teammates went over to their house and put up christmas lights when we heard she was planning on paying a service to do it. Her late husband had a handyman business so in the past he would do all this stuff himself. Last week we put a hat in the middle of the locker room and raised $400 in cash and pledges. Tomorrow I will don a full Santa suit and go over to their house with $400 worth of gifts for the kids which I spent the last few days buying. One of our guys is the GM of the Trump and he threw in a really nice gift card for the Spa for the wife and her sister. When we told her what we were planning to do she told me how they had a tradition where Santa would come to their grandparent's house every Christmas Eve and drop off presents, but they had no one to do it this year. Taking advantage of the Santa suit I've got a couple stops lined up after that, going to my brother's house with toys for my nephews and then going to one of my teammates house for a Santa visit with his kids. |
