Come over and fix my furnace. I've always had the utmost respect for HVAC guys. They allow the rest of us peons to live comfortably.

My apartment people can't do it until tomorrow. :(

What is it doing? Or not doing?
Do the flames come on?
Are there any error codes or anything blinking of the board?

I'll need to open it up more for this. No flames.

No flames.
Thermostat.
Thermostat wiring.
Main power.
24 volt power, possibly a fuse.
Circuit board.
Ignitor.
Gas supply.
Gas valve.

Check that shit out and get back to me

Thermostat is good.
Thermostat wiring should be fine but I'm not sure what to check.
Circuit breaker is on and main power works. So does outlet near the furnace, though that might not matter.
Beyond me.
Beyond me.
etc.

I'm not sure how I would see the pilot light, but it may be out. I don't smell any gas, so it might have stopped being fed gas. I'm looking on the furnace as to how to relight the pilot, but it seems with my model "Trane XE 60" I've got to take some stuff apart to get to it. And I don't want my apartment people to bitch if I do something wrong.

Sounds like the thermocouple is bad or pilot out. I think that one has a standing pilot.
Did you try lighting the pilot? There should be instructions printed somewhere on the furnace.
Might need a new thermocouple. They go bad ever so often.

So the pilot is out again.
The issue most likely is a weakening thermocouple. Your landlord is a cock for not getting this working, but you can fix this yourself for about $5-$10 if you're willing.
Course, it could also be a bad gas valve which is weakening with proper thermocouple mV but that's rather rare.
On the other hand that's a pretty old unit.
Is this an apartment or a house?

I'd be willing to fly by and fix it but it will cost ya some. LULZ! PAY ME

Apartment. Maintenance is coming back over now. Communicating with this gentleman is a bit difficult, language barrier wise. I'm going to watch what he does this time, and try to ask some more questions.

If he's worth his shit he should measure the millivoltage coming off the thermocouple. Without load, he should be seeing somewhere between 30 and 35 millivolts. Under load, maybe something more like 20 to 25. Minimum of something like 15 to hold the pilot valve open. As time goes on those thermocouples should get less and less. If he measures it and it gets like 17 then I'd say that he should start by simply replacing the thermocouple. It's a $5 part, retail. Wholesale... well, less.
If he does that and it still doesn't stay lit, then it's possible the gas valve is going bad, not keeping the pilot valve open with proper voltage. It's also possible there's a venting issue that is causing the pilot to blow out. You should have a nice strong bluish pilot flame impinging upon the tip of the thermocouple. As the pilot orifice gets dirty or misaligned the pilot flame may be lifting, or weak, or, if the thermocouple isn't properly set in the pilot assembly, the flame is not hitting the tip of the thermocouple.
I'd say it's time to replace the thermocouple. It's a $5 investment that he can do in less than 5 minutes.

I should add that one time I was the third tech out to a call in which a pilot on a boiler kept going out. The previous tech recommended replacing the pilot assembly and the gas valve... which was what I was there to do. I put in the new gas valve, replaced the pilot assembly. Fired the prick up, getting 31 mV no load, 26 under load, more than enough to keep that bastard open, and I cycled the thing a couple times and it was fine. Then I thought well shit we've been here 3 times now I'll try it one more time. It fired up. Then I noticed the water heater came on. When the call for heat stopped on the boiler, the pilot went out. No way it should have, so I did some more checking. Incoming gas pressure was like 5.5 inwc with no load, dropped to 4.5 when the boiler came on and down to 4.0 when the water heater was on also... 4.0 inwc incoming gas pressure is too low, and thus the pilot dropped out when the main valve kicked off on the boiler. It ultimately was a nicor problem. Bad regulator on their gas meter.

Funny ain't it?

Thermocouple was replaced (and maybe other things?) on Sunday, worked until about 30 minutes ago, pilot light went out again...

Annoying.

Fucking hilarious.

But how does the pilot stay lit if the thermocouple is bad?
