Post subject:  Paczki Day 2015

Anglo Paczki Day that is, as we all know the true day was last week.

I called in my order to the bakery this year to avoid taking up time and growing the line at pickup. The bakery opens at 5:30. I got there at abut 5:20 and 10 people were already waiting in cars. Some old babushka almost threw the place into chaos by strolling up at 5:29 pretending not to see everyone waiting. I really hate when old people pull the "I'm old and confused" thing to break down civility. Luckily, one of the people waiting was a cop in squad car who restored the order. I don't know what the CPD was doing in Skokie but I'm no snitch.

Anyway, I had my first and probably only: a chocolate custard filled one with chocolate glaze.

much better than Kirkwood's theo crème filled donut

Q: How did the Germans conquer Poland so fast?

A: They marched in backwards and the Polish thought they were leaving.

donuts suck.

paczki suck even more. pumpkin pie zone. if they're so good they'd be popular for more than one day a year.

Today is a day to put Kirkwood on ignore, well most days are but I regress, any red blooded American that doesn't like the donut has to be with ISIS.

people buy them every day of the year

Your statement is the equivalent of a previous discussion about Pizza Hut v Lou Malnatti's.

I'm anti-donut. They're not worth being burped up all day.

dateline fall/winter 1999: a first semester of college sini is riding his morning L train from cumberland to UIC halsted, as he was embarking on the mistake that was attempting to take on computer science @ UIC. i'm not very proactive with homework/tasks, so i was doing some calc homework due right after i showed up in the morning on the train. this was an AM rush hour train so people at o'hare/rosemont/cumberland got seats and by the time you got into the city proper? not so much.

i ended up getting a plump-n-rotund woman with god-awful coffee breath next to me starting at harlem or something. nonetheless i persist with my calculus homework, continuing through the loop/downtown area where the train was 100% standing room only.

it's at that point that some older grey hair women walks on and finds a standing spot by the door, when she looks around and notices me in the first row by the door with calc book on my lap and despite ~180-220lb coffee breath chick to my right impeding on my own natural 6'4/250, this old bitch shakes her head and scoffs before muttering "HE'S YOUNG..... HE SHOULD STAND"

i stop what i'm doing and give her the look of death. i get a rather pissed off look in my eye (it'd be the "menacing" thing if any of you here watch jojo's bizarre adventure) and get her attention copying her scoff extra loud and mocking and then i go "SHE'S OLD..... SHE SHOULD DIE!"

suffice to say, i had no more sass from her til i got to my destination. * claps hands * sometimes you just gotta let people know.

The Zen philosopher Basho said that a flute with no holes, is not a flute. And a donut with no hole, is a danish.

As I have been saying on this site for the past decade, the strawberry and banana cream paczki at Bennison's Bakery in Evanston are simply outstanding:
