What Would Mac Do?

Have to say, what would Mac do during these BS Danny days? Mac has more than enough Hawks peeps and I can only imagine he would have looked into the issues.

I am sure Bernstein would never back down, as he wouldnt even admit he was wrong about the bears locker room when Mannelly would tell him he was wrong...he just got quiet and would mumble, "Ok, but I am not sure"....was a great Score memory.

I just think Mac would go after him in tranny on this issue. Going even into the 'Dan, even if it is true, do you feel the need to keep talking about it, knowing the damage you personally cause someone a problem?"

And I am sure Bernstein would say "He shouldnt have done what he did"

And it could on and on....until Mac would just say "OK...if thats how you want to be"......while thinking ("Man, I would love to kick your ass!:)

The cross that Bernsie has to bear is that he must live a perfect life with all bases covered at all times. Marriotti learned this with that domestic thing in LA. Doesn't matter what it is. Anything less than perfection when you do what he does and he is screwed. Simple DUI after too much wine at an event or his kid does something dumb or his wife's business has a issue he is so fucked.

I agree, but I think he is fine with that....when you dont leave your house unless by the side of your wife or children, you are guarded.

So disappointing that Mac is no longer there. He would have dragged Dan over the coals on this one.

True indeed. However, it's hard to imagine there's anything jeopardizing the sanctity of his facile, suburban, corporatist worldview.* That said, I will never understand why a guy like Sharpie bothers to get married while still playing. I can't imagine the debauchery that would ensue if I was him. These guys live lives we (or at least I) can only begin to dream about, especially him.

Its too bad Mac couldn't log in and maybe tell people exactly what he would do. Guess he doesn't have anything he wants to push here for now.

Maybe 10 years ago mac would say or do something but I don't think the fire and passion has been there for quite some time.

The fire and passion has got him suspended.

He would just try and say some things in a more correct and direct manner. Not even a question.

There wouldnt be the fear of going after bernstein which exists now, because I think we have now seen how much he cared to be at the Score if they didnt want to give him what he wanted and a newly contracted and returning Mac would have been fresh out of the box.

Mac hasn't had anything interesting to say in a decade or more. So what would he say to Bernsie about the Sharp controversy? Who gives a fuck.

Bernstein would be in the right if that happened

Its not either of the Dan's jobs to protect Patrick Sharp's family from Patrick Sharp

The guy is media. He is supposed to comment on local sports stories.

Being media means coming off like an asshole sometimes

What would you have him do? Protect the players by holding the story? At that point he becomes PR for the team, not media

And, again, Sharp is the bad guy here (in this hypothetical where these things are proven true)

Bernsie has been hiding behind the "satirical" infotainment show curtain since the start. If he was a mensch he would have simply picked up the phone and called Patrick Sharp, Mrs. Reiff, Mrs. Keith, Cheryl Scott and whomever else and explained that he has reason to believe that their past and/or current relationships have been causing strife in the locker room, and potentially affecting on-ice performance. You ask them for comment, and report. It's not brain surgery. But he's not a mensch, he gossips like a feygele. And a turd. That said, nothing will happen to him. What could?

It wasn't a story, though. Bernstein made it one by commenting on rumors that have yet to be substantiated.

Look, Patrick Sharp is probably a bad guy. But obviously so is Bernstein.

Is K.C. Johnson the only realistic alternative to Bernstein?

There are other sports talkers--like Silvy, for instance--who launch withering critiques of our teams without embarrassing themselves.

Bernstein went with the story as a strategy for drawing attention to his show, not necessarily to "do his job" as a sports commentator.

Up until recently, the rumors Bernstein referred to surrounding Sharpe were very vague. Even now he refrains from specifics. I'm guessing the reason he went so hard on this from a journalistic perspective was that he was being told this was affecting the team. I don't think if it were purely an issue of a players infidelity he would have made more than a veiled joke about it - if he said anything at all.

I would tend to believe the Sharp / Cheryl Scott stuff more than any of this. Im not buying he's schtupping an average to below average looking soccer mom ( Tiger Woods' choices notwithstanding ]and a teammates wife or girlfriend.

That touches on the whole problem with bernstein. He's an "entertainer" when it suits him, yet he wants to be respected as a "real journalist".
