True, he probably exceeded his life expectancy with the number of NFL games he played, but the memories and stories he had in his 70 years are probably more than most of us will have.

we took him for granted, thinking he would be around for another decade

Football in this city is not as much fun because of his passing

Man, it's really not going to be the same after games now. Nine years I listened to Doug and OB do postgames, even for Bears games I didn't watch.

there is nobody on the horizon to do it the way he did

OB will get fed up very quickly of working with a guy like Sir

R.I.P., Big Doug, loved watching him play, loved listening to him. Going to miss him during football season.

I don't think OB is going to go on without Doug. I can't imagine it. There just won't be that kind of show again.

This sucks. An era of guys that actually cared about being a Bear is ending and too soon for Doug.

OB won't do the show anymore, either. Or, if he does, it would be Mannelly and OB - which would also suck.

I would agree, I hope he doesn't.

I'd still like to see OB carry on the legacy, in Doug's honor.

Lost in his media career was a truly fantastic playing career. Didn't make the HOF, but I always felt he deserved more consideration.

There's really no point in even having a postgame anymore. It should die with Doug.

(Laurence/Mannelly coming obviously)

Mannelly and Hub might be okay, but it won't be a replacement.

The only way to continue the spirit of the Doug/OB postgame would be to have North do it.

He played so long that both Doug Atkins and Dan Hampton were teammates.

Speaking of whom, I think Hampton could do it. In fact, he already does it.

Could always take solace in the fact that he was always there with OB to make you laugh after a Bears loss. With him gone, Bears losses will now just be pure misery.

You'll be missed, Doug. R.I.P.

That would be horrible. Thank God he's employed by the Bears on Sunday, something I never thought I'd say, so this hopefully won't happen.

Oh,man,oh man! I'm off the 'net for a few hours and of course I check this board out first and discover Doug has passed on. Some deaths hit you harder than others. I loved Doug on and off the field. RIP,Big Guy!

LOL! Yep, thank God for that indeed. I could handle LoHo and Mannelly, but it would not be appointment listening like Doug and OB were.
