Everyone knows by now that he 3 putted 18 to lose the US Open. But, unlike just about every other pro, he didn't whine and complain about the greens afterwards. He didn't blame the course. He didn't throw a temper tantrum on the green like Horschel did. He took the loss like a true professional.

Gotta give the guy props. He's had an amazing comeback from being in rehab last year. Playing great golf from tee to green, as well as anyone in the world. His short putting was a problem all weekend, not just on 18.

He may have lost the Major, but he gained a lot of respect in my eyes (a very nice consolation prize  )

He also could have stuck around to accept his 2nd place medal.

That's a thing??

Good for him, pro sports shouldn't have second place trophies. What's next, a Participation Ribbon for Tiger?

i agree. they should get rid of gold and bronze medals at the olympics. get rid of those fancy plates and trophies they give to the loser at wimbledon. i think the trophy makers have a strong super PAC so they'll probably try to stop your "get rid of all recognition of anything but first place" platform.

I couldn't disagree more about the Olympics, but as for all the other stuff I'm with you.

Winning an Olympic medal, no matter what color, is a big deal. It may not seen that way in the USA where first is all that matters, but worldwide its a big deal to have any sort of medal. Especially if you're from some rinky dink country that doesn't have many medals as it is.

It is tradition at the U.S. Open for the runner or runners up be at the trophy presentation, just like at the British Open. Would have been nice if he would have done his part.

He still won almost $900k for 2nd, so it's hard to feel too sorry for him.

Agreed, while I am sure he just wanted to leave and not say something foolish, it would have spoken volumes for him to accept his award and
congratulate Spieth. He'll eventually win a major soon but he has had some really tough breaks at the Pebble US Open, and the PGA at Whistling
Straits.

He was signing autographs for kids behind the scenes at the time.
Most people (on twitter) lauded him for signing for the kids instead of leaving after the choke.
Hawg hates kids.

And keep the little snotty brats away from my baseball games also.
