The PED stuff has never bugged me. I'm just a fan who wants to be entertained. Bonds and Griffey did that best for me.

I feel the same way for the most part. The thing that bothers me the most about Bonds is he didn't need to do it. Hitting 40 homeruns was fine. He decided he should put up numbers that most people couldn't get on a video game because he was jealous of Sosa and McGuire.

Barry Bonds is definitely the best baseball player I've ever watched. He is definitely a Hall of Famer. That post does a great job of highlighting that he would have been a great Hall of Famer with zero home runs.

That's if you buy the narrative that he was clean until 1999. I think it's a lot more likely that he was taking run of the mill stuff like a lot of guys from the early 90s on and then went to BALCO for the heavy cola in '99.

Amphetamines? Beyond that and something I can pick up at GNC I doubt he was doing much more than that. His skills were starting to decline in 1998. He probably could have been a 30 home run guy for a handful of seasons but that wasn't enough for him. Especially seeing how popular McGuire and Sosa was. He should be viewed by everyone as the greatest player of the modern era but he will be forever viewed as a surly cheater.

Regular steroids- andro, creatine, equipoise, whatever. The same stuff Canseco, McGwire, Sosa, etc. were doing. That wasn't enough so he went out and paid for some real custom stuff. That's my belief anyway.

Yeah I don't believe that he was ever doing what Sosa and McGuire was doing before 1999. Sosa came to spring training looking like the Michelin Man. You don't look like that shopping at GNC. Bonds was still normal looking until Balco.

Bottom line, he, pete, Sammy , Mac..etc all need to be in the HOF. You want to give them a wing (ask them to to donate for it) with a plaque that says what happened, buts its time the HOF started to look at it.

He was a hall of famer before he started juicing. I wouldn't put McGuire in even if he were clean..the guy wasn't that good . I don't care how many homers he hit.

If bonds got pitched to , when he was on the juice ..he could have hit 200 hr in a season... I hate what PEDs did to baseball..can't put any of em in that are confirmed cheats.
