I don't think a few bad drafts and bad trades is any reason to give up. Once the revenue streams start working they'll be able to afford some better free agents and have enough money to take on salary at the trade deadline.

Your focus of ripping Theo has been terrible...

Here is a guy you can rip...Alberto Almora...Granted he is only 21 and had some issues last year when he took some time off for his dad having cancer.....but this is a True #1 pick from Theo and company. This was a guy who was slotted in as part of the plan and so far, he just cant hit.

Thats a move you can really rip them for...the Rizzo trade was the first and biggest move of the Theo regime, but for all the hoopla, computers and drafting if Almora doesnt survive in the majors, thats a huge knock againt them.

They know what they got and they're going nowhere this year. That's simple asset management.

And why is the expectation for every rookie in a Cub uniform that he will automatically improve, but that same expectation doesn't exist for guys wearing other uniforms?



He looks like he doesn't really know which guys to keep and which guys to move. He's made some atrocious trades that if Kenny Williams had made them, you'd be posting multiple topics about them.

Ian Stewart yes. Bad trade. Mentioned many times by Cubs fans.

Maholm for Vizcaino didn't work out as planned. That was just a flip that didn't work. It happens.

Fowler for Valbuena/Straily hasn't worked out as planned either.

Otherwise the trades have been in the Cubs favor for the most part.

I am very pleased with Theo/Jed performance in the trading market.

The Ian Stewart trade was truly awful but as much as I liked DJ I would rather have Russell, Baez and Bryant over him. I'm in the minority that feels that Castro will recover next season. I was more upset to see Colvin leave but that shows what I know.

If you want to hammer Epstein, his worst acquisition just left town. Hammer him all day on that deal. And in my mind, hammer him on the Lester pickup and the catcher he brought with him. Castillo is gone because of that and I don't think they'll get their return on that deal. Unless they sneak into the playoffs this season. I think Lester is on the downside.
