Naperville Tops List of Most Desired Place to Live by Chicagoans

Lincoln Park came in 2nd....

I would love to know who they surveyed, avg house cost in Lincoln Park is $2,000,000, vacant lots are $1 M..and its too crowded.

High prices is probably a good sign that it is a desirable place to live albeit quite unaffordable.

The unaffordable part was the point...and to be honest, not that great for what it is, not as many places to eat or go have a drink for those that have $2 mill houses.

Nothing like wanting to move from an overcrowded, expensive big city to an overcrowded, expensive suburb

Onion-level headline here.

BTW, I didn't see anything in the link where it was limited to the Metro area, let alone Illinois.

Fuck, if money were no object like the premise states, I would GTFO Illinois as soon as I could jump into my car.

I think Lincoln Park is an unbalanced area. Normal casual places to eat and drink cant afford to stay in an area that has property taxes and rents that high. So, only a few are left.

Gemini Bistro on Lincoln in a place that tons of lincoln parkers go to. Its really high priced drinks, small portion dining with high prices. Blinds on the windows, not much advertising, but they cater to the people there. Great niche market for a few places.

I would tell you at one point many of the people that live there went to many or a few of the places on Lincoln Ave betweeb Webster and Belden. Now, they probaboy wont even walk on Lincoln.

Things change.

Barleycorn is a great example of where people used to go who lived there. They didnt have TV's, had some good food and drinks. Now it is bascially a club. just doesnt fit in the area anymore.

That about describes it. We used to hang out in Lincoln Park a lot in the mid to late 90's. Everything down Lincoln was always packed, but it was fun to go to Alumni Club, Barleycorn, etc. I think Barleycorn actually closed? There was also a place called John's Place on Webster that was really good, but since has closed.

Ike would make a solid Ravenswooder....but would need a 37.5 wide lot for "projects".

You could attend zoning meetings and fight the man.

Eat at the Hop leaf and have some great craft beers.

Problem would be affording the 37.5x125 lot would run you about $800K for a semi run down place.

Rahms kid is a buyer, who ya kidding....and probaboy not anymore. Someone else is doing the buying for him (Good lesson learned)..

But lotsa weed in that area, zip over a few blocks to RPB's old hood and you got sources all over the place.
