It's not that entertaining and predominantly evil! And this is the perfect season to 'punt' (hahahahaha) given the shittiness of the Bears, and the end of Doug&OB post-game.

It also drives my WSCR podcast consumption to an all-time low, though I kind of still miss the BIGGS TIME intro.

This is entertaining and helpful: http://deadspin.com/tag/counter-programming

You can also act holier-than-thou and mention high school kids dying on the field and stuff. I'll never allow my son to play it, but that's easy when I'm not having sex!

(yes, this is a self high-five)

Agreed, this is a terrible year for the NFL. Probably the beginning of the end.

I wouldn't say I'm giving up on football, but I don't really watch the NFL outside of the Bears. Not only is it making me retarded as to what good football is, but it also is the maximum tolerance for the NFL I have on a given 7 day period (unless there's a goddamn Thursday game).

My problem is that the NFL had 7 months of all day Sunday and sometimes Monday night for years and years and years. The rest of the week if you wanted to break down the NFL you'd have to watch a certain part of SportsCenter, listen to your national/local talk radio (cringe), or dedicated NFL shows on ESPN/et al.

In the last 10-odd years the NFL has fused together with fantasy football to fight a never-ending marketing war for the other 5 days of the week/months of the year. It does all it can to permeate culture and media with reminders that even when the NFL season is cold and dead in the midst of April & May that fans will ache for the sweet milky discharge of NFL FOOTBAW, even if it's via scandal.

It is overwhelming. It is suffocating. It's getting to the point where I actively have to make a point NOT to tolerate football input. I don't talk about it with friends or family or co-workers. I certainly haven't played fantasy football in years. I just want to be left the fuck alone to watch my sorry-ass Bears facefuck themselves into a top 3 pick so I can irrationally build up hope that they will no doubt squander.

The NFL couldn't leave well enough alone and ruined it for everybody by not having a sense of modesty. But hey -- billions of dollars will do that shit I guess.

I was at that stage the past couple of years. Stopped playing fantasy (fantasy baseball is a much better game in that area, too) and no non-Bears games. And the Bears were supposed to be exciting heading into last season. This season all indications were that they were designed to be bad and boring, and that's playing out so far.

Wouldnt say giving up on the bears,,,,but they get less time than the red Zone....didnt even know they started yesterday

My short term investments are much more important

Will I be back...of course, but if I lived out of town and wanted to see the bear, dont think I could pay for Direct TV this year to see them

That isn't true.

Who are the only teams this year with a chance to win it?

Nope. Not even close. Do you actually even watch sports or read about them?

You're always in it in the NFL if you stay healthy, are well coached, and don't have Jimmy Clausen leading your squad.

You know anyone could have drafted Brady and about 21 teams had a chance to draft Rodgers, right? You can strike gold in the NFL much easier than you can in the NBA.

I assume Brady and Rodgers are in there, but I'm not sure who #3 is and I don't think you do either.

So, can you tell me?

Yeah, but he's been pretty horrible so far.

Like, worst starting QB in the league horrible.

The NBA is in a fairly unprecedented time of parity, for them. It does hurt that all but one contender is in one conference, but still.

I can't do it.

I've watched every minute of preseason and all three regular season games.

I love Da Bears - even after enduring The Punt Bowl yesterday.

Yes, I need help...

I've been giving up on the NFL for a good 5 years and counting. Still follow the Bears, but watch very little. The game itself has become comically bad.

While I enjoy Saturday football way more than Sunday football, when it comes to the Bears, I cant miss a game no matter how bad they are. Bears games are still events in our home and we always cook a bunch of good food and never miss a game.
