Not that I downplay the "Go up and get it" guys, but thats kind of easy compared to Smith crossing the middle and catching stuff in traffic. he wasnt the deep threat guy in term of taking the cover off...and when you are that guy, you dont need to worry about taking a shot because nobody is even thinking about hitting you, its about bumping the pattern and trying to play the ball. man remember when smith used to kill us with the panthers? you could pencil him in for a buck-25 to 150 like clockwork, 1-2 TDs, and likely a bears loss. he was a legit problem for the beloved. unfortunately for him i don't think he ever won the super bowl. he was a key part of that phenomenal panthers/patriots SB, and then i think he joined the ravens the season after they won the SB and they got knocked out by the patriots in the AFC championship game or something. unfortunate for him, but i guess he can just kick back with multi-generational wealth as a nice consolation prize. |

So his career stats if he was truly done - he would end up here: 15th in career receptions 10th in receiving yards 28th in receiving TDs 19th in yards per reception Andre Reed and Art Monk are behind him in many categories and made the hall. He has several ahead of him in line: Andre Johnson, Issac Bruce, TO, Hines Ward, Randy Moss and Reggie Wayne. He might be waiting a while. |
