Too much negative in the press. In my lifetime,I have known 5 police officers personally. The first one was a Chicago officer killed in the line of duty,the second was shot in the line of duty but had a bulletproof vest on and survived. The next 2 assisted in saving my life and the final one is a friend who also is a high ranking officer in the Army. I hold each in high regard.

I've always been a "Law & Order' guy but I realize their are some bad cops,just like there are bad postmen,garbage men,etc. I appreciate the jobs these men & women do.

Disagree, but still many bad cops. Like Politicians I think many or even most get into the job with great intentions. They see things and then do things, that make them bad after that.

I think many see it as a good job with good benefits in most cities. I don't think a lot of them get the job expecting to do good. I wouldn't compare them to a politician.

Why do we need to shout out police officers everytime one gets criticized? Do we give shout outs to good lawyers after we criticize one? What about teachers? Parents? Athletes? It's really weird how some of you all react to criticism of any officer.

I know Someguy is messin around but Its weird how when bad cops are identified there is a kneejerk reaction to defend all the good ones... A bad garbage man leaves a mess, a bad cop kills you or plants drugs in your car or house and gets you railroaded to prison.

Most Cops are Cops because its a fallback job..they went to college n still haven't chosen a profession..the Test comes around and they take it..its good pay with good bennies..almost impossible to be laid off or fired. T

Just found this list of all CPD employees & their salaries. CPD officers start at $43,104, but there are a lot of officers making $80K - $95K.

Based on what you posted about your time in the military all you did was sit on your ass. You didn't even have to do guard duty? How is that hard work. Where you deployed? If you are deployed you get a boost plus when you are in you need to count all your benifits like oh housing food and all the other stuff.

Yeah, I didn't do a whole lot. But I was willing to. There's a shit ton of wasted money on the military budget. Not sure if you're smart enough to realize this, but not every soldier's time served mirrors my own.

Edit: We pay for our own food. The "three square meals a day" thing is not free. $300+ was deducted every month for it. The housing is free, but you get what you pay for. Half the time plumbing and electricity was out.

Rick was correct, Truck Driving was more dangerous than a cop...so was commercial fishing and a dozen other jobs.. Spanky and Rogue feel unintentionally dead < intentionally dead.

I drove a truck long haul, it might be statistically more dangerous but holding the steering wheel 450 miles across Nebraska while texting and driving is pretty low-stress. Cops have to deal with a lot of bullshit and people hate them for it.

I like the CPD, I took the test years ago but decided against pursuing it.

Oh, and all but a handful of Americans are underpaid.

I don't think people hate cops because they have to deal with a lot of bullshit.
