5 cups a day is a moderate drinker?

I'm a moderate vodka drinker.

Maybe it's because I don't drink coffee at all but I'm also surprised to see moderate consumption defined as 3 to 5 cups a day. Seems like a lot.

I'm a pot a day guy myself - but "healthy".

No sugar, cream, sweet substitutes, flavor syrups, additives, etc.

I do agree 3-5 cups seems a bit more than "moderate"...

Yeah I would imagine all the added stuff makes a big difference. A cup of black coffee might be good for you but a dunkin donuts french vanilla swirl iced latte? probably not so much.

An 8 oz cup of brewed coffee averages about 150 mg of caffeine.

Does the article specify 'coffee', or does it talk generally about caffeine?

Misleading title. The article specifically says it's not the caffeine and that decaf has the same effects.

The debate was whether caffeine is dangerous or not. This proves it is not.

No, it doesn't.

What if the caffeine is insufflated?

It's sad seeing you go to such extremes.

What if the coffee cup is so large that if it is spilled that it floods the whole town?

3-5 cups a day doesn't seem like a lot, IMO.

If you're putting all that bullshit into otherwise perfectly good coffee, you deserve the health problems you get.

Rick, how do you know that the rest of the chemicals in the coffee don't just offset any negative impact caffeine has?

More than 1,000 chemical compounds in coffee,[1] and their molecular and physiological effects, are areas of active research in food chemistry.
