We all know he is going to win it. I'll just make the thread a few minutes early. Historic season. One of the best ever. |

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ba ... story.html The Cubs don’t have a finalist in the National League Most Valuable Player voting, but they can win their first “triple crown” award since 1984 if Jake Arrieta is announced Wednesday night as the NL Cy Young Award winner by the Baseball Writers Association of America. In what is believed to be the closest vote of the postseason, Arrieta will find out whether he or the Dodgers’ formidable twosome of Zack Greinke or Clayton Kershaw will win the award. The announcement follows the selections of Kris Bryant as NL Rookie of the Year and Joe Maddon as NL Manager of the Year on successive nights. The last time the Cubs has three BBWAA award winners was in 1984, when Ryne Sandberg (NL MVP), Rick Sutcliffe (NL Cy Young) and Jim Frey (NL manager) earned individual honors. The last NL two teams to feature three individual winners were the 1991 Atlanta Braves (Terry Pendleton, MVP; Tom Glavine, Cy Young; Bobby Cox, manager) and the 1990 Pittsburgh Pirates (Barry Bonds, MVP; Doug Drabek, Cy Young; Jim Leyland, manager). The last team to feature Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year and Cy Young Award winners in the same season was the 1983 Chicago White Sox with Ron Kittle, Tony La Russa and LaMarr Hoyt. |

Just saw Arrieta interviewed on STL by Kap and Jake's son, Cooper, stole the show again. Cooper was making funny faces and mugging on camera hilariously. |

Congrats indeed. Thought Greinke was going to get it. Glad I was wrong! Hope he can at least be a 200+IP sub 3.00 ERA guy next year. |

Welp it's settled... We should all be Cubs fans now and if not we're stupid and wrong and burrito! And of course, when we all submit to our new cubbie overlords we have to confess that IMU was right again because seriously Nostradamus/Nastradamus doesn't have shit on IMU, who is way more accurate about things like "Season over. Time to call up Dano!" Well hey it doesn't take a rocket scientist to look up the hawks' roster and see who's been reading the board. Good job jakey-poo! Nice jammies! Be sure to read the CSFMB in the future if you wanna find out what future seasons are like! |

IMU wrote: I don't understand any of that. You're right (as you always are) and we're wrong. I think everyone's going to become cubs fans now and pay fealty to you cuz man, you have an addiction to calling things b4 they happen! If I didn't know any better I'd say you do that just so you can then quote yourself later and be like "SEE I WAS RIGHT! [RESPECT ME]" --- but fortunately I do know better and that's just how you roll as the boy from the future! |

Wow, the immature jealous hate here again today because of another award by a Cub member absolutely amazes me....i am all for banter between Sox and Cub fans, but all of this surpasses, and is truly childless! As I have covered 5 cities of sports teams over the last 15 years, this banter between a city that is lucky enough to have multiple sports teams in all major sports is pretty disparaging. Educate yourselves on what success young kids, yes I say young kids because most none of us have the skills to ever compete on a professional level to understand what any of these kids go through. As a lifelong Chicagoan, it is embarrassing to comprehend the logic in the childless banter between someone who cherishes one team over another. |
