John Scott sucks, he's always sucked, and I see nothing admirable about making him the butt of a stupid joke, inconveniencing him and his family, and then talking about what a great guy he is getting a raw deal from the NHL. He was voted in because he's not a great guy, he's a big goon who serves no purpose but to hurt people and can barely even stay in the league doing so.

If fans wanted to make a farce of the All-Star Game by voting for a well-liked bum, the NHL has no shortage of those guys. They could have voted Michal Rozsival in if that's what they wanted. This was just another tired-ass attack on fighting by people who think they're better than everyone else, quickly refashioned into some feel-good bullshit about "making dreams come true." I don't buy a bit of it.

I'm not putting any faith in the "john scott" is a good guy crap. The voting is stupid and the NHL made a mess of it. The players should have the vote and leave it at that.

Look, John Scott is one of the last of a dying breed. We know it, he knows it. He was brought into the league for one purpose; one role - a role which is now pretty much extinct. Yes, he has had a couple of assbag moments on the ice in the last few years, and has apologized for them and was suspended.

From other accounts off the ice, he is apparently at least a pretty decent guy. He did not deserve the cloak-and-dagger treatment the league brass gave him over this, especially due to their own ineptitude. The league tried to guilt and shame him into backing out. I mean, he got traded in an effort to force him out, ffs.

Sorry, but as technically undeserving as Scott was to get in, he nonetheless did in accordance with the voting parameters, and there's no reason to blame him. He showed up and was entertaining, and even showed a bit of skill (imagine that...). The fans enjoyed it, the players (mostly) enjoyed it, and HE enjoyed it. A happy ending that won't be repeated next year or any year thereafter.

Leave it to the NHL executive douchbag cabal to totally shit the bed every step of the way, yet still come out as a winner over the attention this got; yet imagine the good PR had they handled it the right way.


Oh, and as an aside, it looks like Bettman is getting extended past the CBA expiration
