June Jones looks old as hell coaching SMU. He looked salt and pepper old but still vibrant with Hawaii. He looks like he has aged 20 years in the last 3.

Devil's advocate:

Game one: Winning team yardage 408, losing team 307

Game two: Winning team yardage 371, losing team 302.

Know the teams?

Game one: USC vs. Minnesota last year.

Game two: Minnesota vs. USC, this year.

Caveats: Minnesota was breaking in a new QB, had to go to their backup, and was playing on the road. And they looked better, especially in the second half. But the net difference was 32 yards between now and then. USC was +3 in first downs this year, plus 4 last year. And 7 points of the 11 point difference last year was a kickoff TD. The biggest difference was that Minnesota was dominated on the ground last year and contained Barkley, while this year it was reversed.

I think Minnesota is better, and they improved after Brewster was fired last year. But I don't think the USC game was quite the revelation people might think. Still need more evidence.

Yes. And if Marcus Coker is going to be afraid of coughing up the ball all year - they are in trouble,. I thought Vandenberg looked good but Marvin McNutt is absolutely ready for a big senior season. The weather was atrocious and I hope to see more progress next week in Ames.
