I meant to put this earlier last week, I was watching a special on the 85 Iowa team and in the Rose Bowl that year, they brought this up on Wikipedia, reading about the game, how much stock was put into Ronnie Harmon throwing the game?

Hayden Fry said that Harmon got hit hard every time he fumbled, but if you see his first fumble, the UCLA player barely got to him and he fumbled. That play may have changed the game, with Iowa having the ball on the 5.

Interesting. Non conclusive, but I wouldn't call it a conspiracy theory.

Most of the (smart) Iowa fans I know believe that he did throw the game.

Never heard that... is that common consensus?

The only Bowl that mattered in '86 was Super. Bears!

Many people speculate it. Nothing has ever been proven but Harmon I believe fumbled once or twice all season and to cough it up 5 times in a game was crazy.
