On the bright side, it happened before March so they have all year to get used to playing without him.

Really sucks for Hummel. Last year to win (though he could medical redshirt). NBA stock just dropped dramatically.

Purdue's season just took a major hit.

This is just terrible news. Some are speculating that he was rushed back too early but I can't believe that. It's very easy to reinjure an ACL when coming back from it. Of course they could have waited until December to let him start playing again but the very same thing could well have happened and if it didn't you'd still be putting him way behind in getting back into top condition. There is no other way to spin it. The expectations for this year went from Final Four or national championship to Sweet Sixteen or Elite Eight.

The only good news is that unlike last year, they should have significantly more depth. They've got the best recruiting class they've had since the Hummel, Moore, Johnson class. They've got a lot more height which is what killed them last year when he went down. JaJuan Johnson should be an absolute stud this year. I predict he ends up as Big Ten player of the year. Terone Johnson will be one of the major impact freshman. Patrick Bade is supposed to be a different player than the one who looked lost most of the time last year. Sandi Marcius brings height after his redshirt year.

This injury doesn't end the season but unfortunately no matter what happens now Purdue fans will always be left to question what would have happened if this injury doesn't take place. That won't matter though. Only the results matter.

It's kinda of weird when you think about it, Hummel injures his leg the first time against Minnesota in basketball, then Purdue plays Minnesota on Saturday in football and Hummel injures the ACL again, Purdue get Minnesota off the schedule.

I would say on the ACL injury, this should have been given time to heal, you heard Hummel was hard working to get back before the season and that's probably what caused it, but who really knows what you would have gotten out of Hummel this year anyway, because they say it's the next year when you get back to normal. I think Purdue should have told Hummel to take his time getting back, not to rush it and you seen what happened. Jajuan Johnson probably glad he came back another year now.

I do think Purdue will still make the tournament, and maybe a win, but not much than that.

I'll be very disappointed if they don't make it to the Sweet Sixteen. They should have two of the best players in the country.

In fact, I won't call this season a success unless they make the Elite Eight.
