Is this a step down? I mean he was in a better position to win at Uconn. Its a terrible BCS conference.

Step up - I think he hit the ceiling at UConn - smaller talent base to recruit from and while the conference was easier, they still had their work cut out for them everyday.

He'll get more money, have Maryland (DC primarily) and Virginia to work for talent which would seem to be a better talent pool.

He also may have wanted to leave UCONN, when winning the conference is one of the best things, and all you heard was all the money UCONN lost going to the Fiesta Bowl. It was like over 2 million dollars.

I can't say I'm surprised that Randy Edsall has left the football program at Connecticut for the one at Maryland. He was mentioned as a candidate at Miami, before "The U" hired Temple's Al Golden. I think I heard the UCONN players weren't notified that Edsall was leaving...

That's a great system college football has.

Not the first time this had happened.....each bowl has a required amount of tickets to buy. Guessing the flight costs from Conn to Arizona made it hard for people to buy tickets.

...and some people believe that college football could survive if they paid the players.

On "The Dan Patrick Show" this morning, they played a little audio from Randy Edsall's Press Conference and he mentioned the term "dream job" twice. Dan had a real problem with this, not to mention how Edsall informed his players via teleconference that he was bolting Connecticut for Maryland. D.P. thought Edsall should've done it man to man, face to face...

He's leaving before the UConn and Texas Tech rivalry could even get off the ground

Let alone the fact that calling Maryland a "dream job" makes me think one should consider dreaming higher.

He apparently grew up near the campus and saw his first college football game there in 1970.

That doesn't change my statement.

What would you consider your "dream job" then? If Randy Edsall thinks Maryland is his "dream job", fine! I've got a real problem with not only what he said in his press conference, but also what he told the Connecticut players by teleconference. Man up and tell these players face to face!
