Michigan Alumni and Boosters didn’t like the spread offense back then.

That was a big issue with Rich Rod.

They should have kept him.

COVID is going to make it very hard to fire any coach.

RR made his own bed by doing shady stuff. i would of liked to see him get his 4th year. that team was pretty good. his game plan was run up scores and hope the defense makes enough stops. that was the WVU way. but the start was very slow. Carrs recruiting classes the previous 3 years turned into duds, and their best player mallet ran for the hills when RR was announced and there was nobody at QB left.

He didn't recruit kicking at all, he was fine with a porous defense, and didn't recruit a QB until his 2nd year. he set himself so far behind the 8 ball and didn't think "big10 football" that he was DOA.

It loomed like he was building a solid program, more wins each yer and starting to recruit.

people with money were not fans of this spread option stuff (a few years later, osu embraced it, urban meyer came in and ran roughshod over the B10 using it). the whole "michigan man" thing loomed over him too. all of which was a disaster and while i'm a fan of the school through blood, its this stuff that doesn't make you feel bad when they get their asses handed to them.

all i know is that Denard Robinson was one of the most fun guys I watched back when...even though we lost a few big games, we won a few (ND) . He was just a blast. I went to school in VA at the time of Vick and that was also a time where we didn't get to see many ACC football games here so I was just blown away at this style of football. When RR came to michigan i was as big of fan as any of that style of football.

Running on 3rd and 8 down 21 points in the first half.

Jim has quit on his own players apparently.

his loyalty to don brown is exhausting. his schemes have been called archaic for some time.

the biggest question I had (may have some answers) is how on earth milton beat out mccaffery. a good buddy of mine got to go to a few practices and was like McCaffery was taking 1st team snaps every practice he went to.

word on the street is there was a little tiff about McCaffery taking a week off because he was ill and harbaugh thought it was soft so gave milton first team reps. The McCaffery's basically took their ball and went home. then the hype machine rolled out Milton and after a game everyone was like ok this seems ok. but then Minnesota got destroyed by Maryland then everyone was like, oh thats not good.

You certainly begin to doubt his true ability to evaluate talent.

I doubt his ability to motivate men after a couple of years.

Because his message gets old quickly, and he has a propensity to show up other needlessly.

the moment you begin to think harbaugh is figuring it out (i'm talking the last couple years, not this year) you listen to an interview and you are like oh no this is awful and everything is bad.

He has got JJ McCarthy coming in to play QB next fall. Michigan will be fine offensively.

since there were 0 viable alteratives, it basically seemed like it had to happen. Don brown had to go and he's gone. something needs tweaked on offense. I'm not super confident on either side of the ball but here we go .

I guess the McCaskeys can relate to a guy who's inherited everything he has.
