I'm happy for NIU but 17,000 for an ESPN game?

The stadium doesn't hold much more than that, does it?

Don't ask me. The only time I go near De Kalb is to get a christmas tree.

Upon further research, capacity is 31,000

So it was barely over half full. That is sad.

They only get close to selling out at Homecoming.

It was 6:00 on a Tuesday night. Keep that in mind. Not exactly an easy time for people coming from suburbs/city.

It was 18.5k, but not sure how you are going to get more than that on a weekday at 6 pm.

If this game was on a Saturday then a lot more of the working people could have made the game.

I think all the big ten fans on here will use Iowa basketball as the punching bag.

Yeah, but it was still a blowout. I remember we were all excited for our first trip to Iowa City, not only for the game, but to visit the "biggest bar in the Big Ten". Was it called The Office? For some reason I can't remember real well. :drunken:

Exactly. That's why I need someone around with a team as bad as Iowa.

You need to do better research, that capacity was when NIU had bleachers in the north endzone. Those bleachers have been gone since the 2003 or 2004 season. The Yordon Center now sits there. NIU now lists capacity at 24,000 but we've crammed over 28k in the stands with the current configuration.

Really, because i looked back the first three pages to see if there were any NIU threads and i only saw one and that was basically you rubbing our win over a bad Minnesota team in the faces of some big ten fans on here. Other than that, nothing...

Even if that were true, it does not make my original statement false.

Can i ask how many games you've been to since you graduated or if that's too far back to remember then how about the last five years?

Oh, i see. You seemed to have cared more when you thought you were able to make fun of NIU by "researching" a capacity of 31k.

No, just curious, there's a big difference. Wasn't really interested in mocking NIU. Also, if you look at my first comment in the thread, I was under the belief that the stadium was smaller than that, and the 17k or whatever was near capacity. My advice would be to read and comprehend before accusing.

Spanky, I'm disappointed in you....I've seen Boilermaker Rick do a better job of trying to deny "Not Boilermaker Rick".

Don't assume that because I was there when LeShon Johnson was there that it's been that long since I graduated. :D :) :| :? :(

I average one game per year. Is that enough to make me a fan? Until this year, I made every homecoming - plus some years another game there or on the road.

Guess it depends on what kind of fan you are (bandwagon, casual, die-hard) and if it is feasible for you to make more games (i.e. live within two to three hour drive of DeKalb).

I know people i don't consider fans who go to Homecoming every year. They go to party, tailgate, and see old friends not for NIU Football.

That is cute how you 2 have a back and forth conversation to make it appear as if Spanky really isn't NIU Huskie.

From my POV, I am 2 bully references and 1 starry-eyed comment from being convinced that NIU Huskie is whistler.

Yes. That would be the only circumstance in life that would prohibit someone from attending as many sporting events as they wanted to.

What is your point again?

Reading NIU_Huskie's posting history is hilarious. Pretty much every post references NIU and more than half seem to reference Northwestern.

His battle with Mud about lacrosse is epically useless.

So then what is your excuse to only attending HC games and none of the others? College football season is short. We only played five home games this season so its not like making a few NIU games would take a lot of time out of your schedule. You seem to spend plenty of time on here.

You made yourself sound like you are a big Huskie fan by announcing all the games you've been to (a long time ago), so i was curious how many games you've been to in recent years.

NIU_Huskie decides to take on University of Chicago football and then Northwestern women's lacrosse right in a row. http://score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=279956#p279956
