We were close, but not that close. Stanford was always the school to beat. In truth, I would have picked Stanford too.

Say what you want about Luck, but as a college football fan, I am glad he's coming back, some could be he didn't want to go to Carolina, but I wonder if Carolina was getting Harbaugh, would Luck be still staying or going.

I mean Stanford had a good chance to be playing in Monday's game, they had a 21-3 lead on Oregon, and then Oregon scored the 49 of the 59 points. So he could look at next as a good chance of going to the National Championship game.

On Harbaugh coaching in the pros, it may be down to the Dolphins or Broncos, if I go by Hub on the Score saying Harbaugh didn't want to be with the York family and that's the 49ers.

ProFootballTalk.com's Mike Florio reports that Jim Harbaugh's thisclose to becoming the Miami Dolphins' new head coach. One problem. Tony Sparano has not been fired...yet.

So tommorow we get that Sparano's been fired and Harbaugh hired, the Dolphins in a tough division, but have a good team.

Reents, the Dolphins haven't made a decision, says the NFL Network, regarding Sparano and his future...One would think that twisting in the wind can't be a good sign. NFL Network's Rich Eisen was on "The Dan Patrick Show" today and here's why he believes Harbaugh should coach his alma mater, Michigan.

Cam Newton could do it if he has an amazing game. I think that's taking a big chance on a guy who may be Jamarcus Russell.

Everytime I see Newton play he reminds of Russell. No way in the world I would draft him. And Mallett reminds me too much of Leaf.

If I had a top pick in the draft this year I think I would be looking at the other positions and try to find a QB in rounds 2-5.

I don't think Cam is the lazy piece of shit off the field that Russell was and is. I would liken him to more of a Vince Young type. Just bigger, stronger and mentally stable.

The SHARK-looking SHARK is in no way affiliated with the Reents-looking Reents.

I was really unimpressed with his composure at the Sugar Bowl. OSU was on him and he was giving off the Cutler pissy attitude towards his teammates.

I have no idea why a young QB wouldn't want to play for the Panthers. They have a solid and deep running game. They have a good veteran WR and some young guys who were emerging. The OL was banged up, but should be back to solid next year. Their problems were with QB and D not the QB surrounding cast.

Because the organization sucks. They don’t have a coach, and they’ve proven time and time again that they aren’t willing to spend the money on making their team a contender year in and year out. They’re just a little cheap.

2 coference title game appearances and a super bowl appearance in last 8 years right?

They're not very well run. Any other organization, and John Fox would've been out a couple of years ago.

4 playoff appearances in 15 years is so so. Especially considering the division was not very good for quite a few of those years.

I can't believe that Luck is passing on being the #1 draft pick. I admire the kid though. Hes a great kid with a great personality & maturity well beyond his age. He'll still be the #1 pick next year.
Maybe Harbaugh stays at Stanford to try and win the national championship with Luck next year?

He must really really want a Heisman and a national championship

I don't get why anyone in their right mind would think that they would be happier in college than by being a multi-millionaire. With money, you can do anything you liked about college (without having to go to class). Vice Versa not so much.

Also, it would be cute if he got a (football) career-ending injury to discourage future stars from making similar asshat decisions.

When it comes right down to it, do you think that the idea of there potentially not being a season next year had any factor in the decision...at least by staying, he knows he'll be playing somewhere.

I'm not sure why Andrew Luck wants to remain at Stanford. Does he want no part of the Carolina Panthers, who have the #1 overall pick in this spring's NFL Draft? Is he concerned over the NFL's impending labor storm and a collective bargaining agreement that expires in March? Whatever the reason, I've got five words for him. Matt Leinart and Jake Locker.

Jake's the University of Washington QB who could've declared a year ago and decided to return to school. If I'm not mistaken, Locker had a down year and his NFL Draft status could very well have declined by staying. As for Matt, while he's now holding a clipboard for the Houston Texans as Matt Schaub's backup, remember what happened to him? Leinart decided to stay an extra year at USC under then head coach Pete Carroll, and his stock declined to a point where the Arizona Cardinals drafted him #10 overall. I know Leinart lost millions by staying, and the same thing may happen to Locker this spring.

It's my understanding that Luck decided to stay in school after getting advice from two NFL quarterbacks, the Indianapolis Colts' Peyton Manning & the St. Louis Rams' Sam Bradford. Sam, the #1 overall pick in last year's NFL Draft, could've lost millions by staying at Oklahoma and he had an injury-ravaged final season in Norman.
