Absolutely.

You probably didn't see it but we gave SIU some late scores just dicking around. Nothing to see there.

How many points you think you'll beat Purdue by?

Who cares?

So when NIU blows Purdue out you won't think it matters?

Im just shocked that two people who have repeatedly argued how inferior NIU is to the big ten just admitted that NIU will be favored. On the road. At a big ten school.

Weird. Doesn't really seem to go together.

You think NIU will be favored? By how much?

I think NIU will win. Why not answer my question?

I didn't quite say that. They probably will be based on that big win against Iowa, though.

Because your question was in response to my post, but had nothing to do with my post.

Rick, how many points do you think the 49ers will be favored by in their game a month from now?

Your post didn't really have to do with anything, and didn't even make sense given that "MAC syndrome" refers to overrating wins against bad teams.

Not by much. 2 at most. The Texans should be good this year.

You seem to already have a good idea how NIU would compete in the Big Ten after 1 game. Why is it hard to predict how you will beat a bad Big Ten team?

Rare night game at Ross-Ade... If ND commits 2 or 3 turnovers, I think the Boilers will have a shot. Purdue historically has played well against the Irish, with the exception of the Holtz era.

Prediction: ND 24, Purdue 20

Purdue would need a miracle to score 20 points in that game.

Blowout.

Temple blew a couple of field goals against ND in South Bend, so the Owls could easily have scored 12. The Boilers have superior team speed and receivers to a Temple team that's heading for an 0-3 start. ND 24, PU 20.

You have them only losing to Stanford the rest of the way out and only have them beating Purdue by 4? One of those predictions doesn't go with the other.

Stanford and maybe 1 other loss. Yeah, I realize those don't go together -- but these days any road win is a good one, and the only team Purdue gears up harder for than ND is their annual Indiana U. matchup.

Way to go to Idaho and play like shit in their indoor barn. Lucky to come out with the W. This game was so remote that I couldn't even get live stats so I actually have no idea if they payed like shit but being tied to Idaho in the 4th Quarter is not good.

Actual: ND 31, Purdue 24

The ghost of Leon Burtnett got tired by the 4th q.

Give the Boilers some credit for being ready to play. As usual they smelled blood in the water, with the extra incentive of beating a team that ran the table in the regular season last year.

Go ahead with the usual gloating over ND's poor play. Kelly needs to have more faith in his playmakers and let it fly.

I could not see the game. Had an online radio stream working on my phone for a while then that stopped working. Idaho's livestat system was not working, nor was ESPN's. So i had to get updates from Twitter and Huskiewire. In this day and age of technology, it should not be so difficult to get game stat updates. Maybe that's what happens when your team plays on the road in a remote area (so remote we had to lodge at a hotel 2 hours from their stadium) against an opponent that no one cares about.

Either way, after three weeks, only undefeated non-BCS teams that remain are us, Fresno, Navy, and Texas State (who?).

Just glad we won and thankfully the AD who scheduled a series with Idaho twice is now gone. There was absolutely no reason to be traveling that far to play a team like that. Only series worth a damn from that state would have been one with Boise.

I'm not sure that I can call NIU the best college football team in the state of Illinois anymore. NW looks really good & probably moves up to 15th this week. I give Fitz a lot of credit for what he has done with this program.

As for ND, they will lose 3 or 4 games this season.

I agree, Northwestern right now reserves the right to call themselves the top team in Illinois. Sure, their schedule so far has not exactly been daunting but many BCS teams are playing a far easier non-conference schedule. This is actually probably one of the tougher one's Northwestern has scheduled in a long while.

Gotta applaud the Big 10 for continuing to schedule the Pac-12 rivalry games. Those quality non-conf opponents will help build the league's strength over the long haul.

They have to be careful out west though to try to avoid situations where they can be screwed by the officials -- as Wisconsin found out the hard way at Arizona St. That was something else -- still trying to figure that thing out.

The MAC is getting great coaching. Two of my all-time favorite NCAA coaches are still active, Terry Bowden (Akron) and Frank Solich (Ohio). You look at Bowden's losses this year so far and they're high-quality opponents: L to Central Florida -- a team that just won at Penn St. -- and L @ Michigan by a whisker. These guys know how to go about building fundamentally sound teams that can compete at the higher level.

I think last year's was worse. Ryan Nassib turned out to be a great QB and took Syracuse to a bowl and won. Similarly Vanderbilt wasn't a pushover either... also making it to a bowl game. I doubt either CAL or this year's Syracuse team will be bowling. The rest of our schedule is brutal. OSU, Mich, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. We dont get any breaks in the B1G this year.

I don't understand the capacity anymore because in 2003 and 2004 we had multiple games over 24,000 people and we have the same setup now that we did then. But now we consider our capacity 24,000. I don't know if city and safety laws made us reduce our current capacity to 24,000 but i remember many games from those seasons having more than 24,000. The students would cram in and be on top of each other.
