The reality is until a kid signs the LOI, coaches can and will continue to contact. Some coaches are more gentlemanly and will ask the recruit once they verbal if they want to continue to talk and if they say no, will back off. But for the most part, coaches will continue to apply pressure to the kids to commit to their school.

There are more and more coaches pushing for earlier signing periods to lock it down a bit. I know in football there are a number of coaches asking for that.

But there's really no benefit for the recruit to sign early. Except to get idiots off his back, I guess.

My guess is there would be a lot of coaches who say "Take it or leave it". A lot of recruits wait to commit until they are in danger of losing a spot. "We have two offers out but only one spot left" would be a strong card to play.

I'm sure you're right when it comes to decent players, like Kendrick Nunn, for example. But when we're talking about the super elite, guys like Alexander or Jabari Parker, I think coaches are going to wait on them. If nobody does than could always get paid for playing in Europe. Those type of guys aren't in it for scholarships.

I agree. The one and done players won't have a problem unless it's against another similar player who is willing to sign.

Elite programs like Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Kansas would probably fill up quick though. The non-elites like Iowa State, Indiana, and Arkansas would have to wait and hope.
