There are more and more coaches pushing for earlier signing periods to lock it down a bit. I know in football there are a number of coaches asking for that.

But there's really no benefit for the recruit to sign early. Except to get idiots off his back, I guess.

That's true. It's also to protect them should they get injured. For example, in football, the signing period happens after the season. It's entirely possible that a player could be grossly injured and have a scholarship pulled.

I think I also read last week that Alexander's girlfriend attends Kansas. I still have my fingers crossed
this works out for the Illini, otherwise that is quite a combination of punches to the stomach.

My guess is there would be a lot of coaches who say "Take it or leave it". A lot of recruits wait to commit until they are in danger of losing a spot. "We have two offers out but only one spot left" would be a strong card to play.

Alexander not signing today apparently.

So, sounds like he was probably coming to Illinois but is probably reconsidering after Snider took off.

Been a rough day there Dr., lost 2 recruits and had to see a tit breastfeeding. You might need a lot of vodka tonight.

I'm sure you're right when it comes to decent players, like Kendrick Nunn, for example. But when we're talking about the super elite, guys like Alexander or Jabari Parker, I think coaches are going to wait on them. If nobody does than could always get paid for playing in Europe. Those type of guys aren't in it for scholarships.

What's the deal with Lyle now? Maybe they'll both come. Probably wishful thinking.

I agree. The one and done players won't have a problem unless it's against another similar player who is willing to sign.

Elite programs like Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Kansas would probably fill up quick though. The non-elites like Iowa State, Indiana, and Arkansas would have to wait and hope.

I heard Lyle has academic issues about qualifying.

Well, that's just nice. Pick up the Illinois hat and then put it down to take Kansas.

Thanks for that.

It's now morally allowable to hope he blows out his knee.

Yea, I mean, I tend to be against wishing for an ACL injury but I can't blame a Illini fan for having the thought cross their midn

The pick up one hat and then put it down move is the biggest FUCK YOU a high school player can ever do. He might as well go take a shit right at midcourt and fuck the Chief in the ass at halftime.

I'm glad Jay Williams called him out on it. He's a kid. Kids do stupid stuff.

I get it, though. Might as well have fun with it. Illinois fans are going to hate you either way. Probably endeared him even more to Kansas fans.

No, somebody should coach these kids a little.

It's disrespectful to coaches that spent the time to show you interest and offer you something. It's not about the fans. It's about the coaches. If I am Groce, I hope he at least got a call ahead of time and didn't have to watch that.

Also, I'm tired of all these great Illinois players going somewhere else. I'd rather they go to DePaul, anywhere, just stop feeding these national programs with our local talent.

It's funny that the kid holding that sign has the standard issue IU haircut.
