That's kind of the new world order of "mega" conferences though. A lot of it will come down to who you didn't have to play in a given year.

Look at Indiana. The top 8 teams in the Big10, they played 2 of the other 7. Their other 7 conference wins were against teams that had losing records, including playing all 3 of the really bad bottom 3.

I follow Big 12. Kansas St had the opposite of Indiana. They played all 4 of the Big 12 teams that tied for 1st (3 on the road). They are a decent team that pulled the short straw in schedule strength this year. The same 4 teams that tied for 1st had 1 game against each other (BYU vs ASU a couple weeks ago).

IU played both teams from last years Natty plus Ohio State and they basically ended Nebraska’s season. Is it the best schedule ever played? No, but its better than people give them credit for.

Who gives a shit they played the 2 teams from the Natty, they weren’t comparable this year.

Right, the first year in living memory that beating both teams who played in the championship game the year before isn’t a feat. What do you want them to do about it? They won against both, more than I can say for Ohio State.

Well it would mean something if both Michigan and Washington were playing with their rosters from last year, I would be extremely impressed. Unfortunately Washington and Michigan weren’t really good this year.

Shouldn’t have bought their way out of having to play mighty Louisville

Still waiting for somebody other than Brick to complain about this.

The standard here just seems ludicrous. Are we really supposed to find twelve undefeated teams that ran a gauntlet schedule? Uh, earth to retards we couldn’t even find four of those teams under the old playoff. Imperfect teams are going to get in, Army is an imperfect team that deserves to get in but isn’t getting a chance because Alabama and their $$$$$$$$$.

There is absolutely zero argument whatsoever that Indiana is not one of the twelve best teams in the country. None at all.

There are a lot more teams than Alabama ahead of Army.

It’s not a complaint, it’s a reality that when people highlight their schedule, that matters more than playing teams that were good in previous years before their good players left.

With what happened the past couple weeks, Indiana is a no doubter to get in. Alabama will get in over Army because Alabama is better than Army and nobody honest doubts otherwise.

It’s not about being better it’s about having the better resume. And its pretty fucking hippo to go out saying “well Michigan and Washington aren’t good anymore and it doesn’t count” while not saying the same about a whole bunch of SEC teams who look kinda shit now.

Well it should be SMU regardless of how this game ends.

You’re backwards, friend. It’s a subjective committee decision.

You can’t argue resume strength and then hand wave strength of schedule, particularly when you’re emoting over wins against two teams that were good in other seasons.

But the entire strength of the SEC is built on the conference being good in other seasons. The SEC did not look great this year.

I have a bad feeling they are going to fuck over SMU.

The SEC was so bad that they are going to have 3 teams minimum in the playoffs, real terrible.

IU had a lot of favorable losses on the last real week of the year. If they had been 11 or 12 instead of 9 last week it would have been a big talking point. Being 9 made it impossible to argue against them.

That's fine though. Any 11-1 Big Ten team deserves a shot. No way an 11-1 SEC team doesn't get in either.

A 4 team playoff would have been much better this year.

ND #7.

Looks likely they’ll get Indiana.

You hate to see it, but they’re out mostly because Clemson is in, which may be worse.

The ESPN selection show is like watching an election post mortem where ____ discusses why their preferred candidate was screwed, the candidate being the SEC for only getting 25% of the spots in the tourney.

It is an election of sorts for them, the B1G got more than the SEC. They lost...until Georgia wins it all.

I would not mind if the Bears used a 4th or 5th round pick on Cam Skattebo. If you haven't seen this dude play, please watch him against Texas or Clemson on January 1st.

Has there been any more rumors to who is next at Purdue? I haven't paid much attention lately

It's UNLV coach Barry Odom. Already official.
