Easy to say, considering that no one in their right mind would waste time arguing about it...

No, I wasn't trying to "make myself sound like a big Huskie fan" - I was responding to you calling me a fair weather fan that would disappear if they go on 12-game losing streak in the future.
Pffft, I laugh at a 12 game losing streak. I apologize for being able to control the timing of their 23-game losing streak that I endured in the 90's.

I grew up a half hour away from DeKalb. I've been going to games since the days of Stacy Robinson and Adam Dach. You should google them, they'd make you proud as a Huskie fan.

You said they were a dynasty, i was telling you they weren't. Winning three titles in the short history of a program is not a dynasty. Plain and simple.

My_name_1s_MUD wrote:
Did you have any idea that these girls were the first team ever to win the National Championship outside the Eastern Time Zone?

Yes, i also knew that. Think about how many Lacrosse programs there are outside of the Eastern time zone. Being the first to accomplish it doesn't seem like such a major feat then. Now, winning three in a row, that IS an accomplishment.

My_name_1s_MUD wrote:
Just because it's not baseball, baksetball, or football doesn't mean its not relevant. Go see a NU Lax game before you say the sport doesn't matter.

I didn't say it was irrelevant. But its relevance compared to those three sports isn't even comparable.

I agree. They're favored by 21 against Minnesota this weekend.

The second-best team are no slouches, either. Let's see if they can knock off the Hawkeyes once again.

That's a good one, both are 5-4 compared to an 8-2 Temple (receiving top 25 votes) and 6-4 Toledo. I'm sure ECU only let Navy roll up 60+ points on them to be generous. Seriously, how do you let the Navy offense that almost exclusively runs the ball do that?

It was 18.5k, but not sure how you are going to get more than that on a weekday at 6 pm.

Iowa State got 41k for the game against NIU on a Thursday night.

Houston got 32K last Friday night.

Marshall got 23k for a Wednesday night game against UCF in a thunderstorm.

Odd...I was told a while back we can't get more than half the stadium filled without a big program in town...

ECU also defeated NC State, a solid ACC team. Temple's biggest pelt is UConn, probably the worst Big East team. Toledo biggest pelt is Purdue, who is awful.

Temple is 8-2 in a MAC conference that Sagarin ranks behind both the Colonial Athletic Association and the Big Sky conference.

Do you actually watch these games? Many schools announce tickets sold and not butts in the seats. There was not 23k at Marshall.

Plus, are we really going to compare Houston to DeKalb (with a population of 50,000)?

Well, if you wanna use Sagarin, then here goes:

#50 Temple > #64 ECU
#70 Toledo > #72 Houston

All the numbers used are the reported numbers. Same for NIU. It's a direct apples-to-apples comparison.

DeKalb is located remarkably close to a city larger than Houston. Also, Houston has sold out most (maybe all) of their games this year. They even sold out their game against an FBS school.

Middle Tennessee State sold 28k for their Tuesday game against Troy. That's in Murfreesboro. Keep grasping at straws though.

Check again on those Sagarins. His most reliable number is his PREDICTOR number. Sagarin says so himself. Toledo is #88. Houston is #68.

Whatever number you use of his, UCF (39 regular, 38 P) is better than NIU (54 regular, 57 P)

So for some reason I decided to look it up and that 18.5k is the 2nd highest attendance of the year for NIU.

Oh yeah, because making a drive that is already over an hour from Chicago without rush hour traffic makes it easy to go to a 6 pm game.

That's great that MTSU SOLD that many tickets but there weren't 28k in the seats.

Those numbers don't reflect all the people that sneak in to watch MAC football though. You have to take that into account.

NC State got 56k for their Thursday night game against FSU.

Fresno State got 37k for their Thursday night game against Cincinnati. I'm just looking up games as I try to remember which were played on weekday nights. I haven't found one yet that was under 18k. I'm sure one is out there. But not many, apparently.

And for the record, I watched that MTSU game. They had about 28k in the seats.

Toledo got just under 26k for their Friday night game against Arizona.

Are we suddenly trying to measure fans based on attendance?

NIU does not go by tickets sold, we go by butts in the seats.

NCAA states that teams can use tickets sold or butts in seats to count attendance.

Temple comes out better under the Sagarin PREDICTOR that I thought. Better is 49. You have a win that is better than UCF's wins. Toledo, the 88th best team in the nation, is your next best win. That is hot garbage.
