I did not see any of the game. Did he do something to show he was not a jackass? Did he get a personality transplant? :P

Hahah, same personality and same jerk-face.

Vince - Curious if you have gotten to see Russell Wilson yet. I know you were real skeptical of him before the season, so wanted to see if you think he has lived up to the hype or not.

I didn't really think so. They're supposed to be able to score the touchdown there. If you kick the field goal, now you've still got to go the entire field for the touchdown.

Scheelhaase just had a bad game. The interceptions and then that pass on fourth down to nobody. Shit happens. Still a game they could have won. I would question Zook on his clock management at the end.

You kick the field goal. Just like Lovie should have last week. Kick it. This is just 'old-school' coaches ignoring newer, conventional wisdom.

When you're losing by 10 points and it gets to 4th down, kick the FG. You need it anyway.

I understood what he was thinking. With 1 minute, your odds of getting a TD and FG could be argued to be better to get the 2 yards and then the final 12 and take your chances with a short-drive FG as opposed to driving another 60-65 yards against OSU (who hasn't give you a big play all game) with less than a minute.

I wasn't too upset about it. Either way is a long shot. I still would have kicked the FG though.

Right. You need the FG, but you can take a shot at that from the 35. Once you are that close, go for the TD, because you probably aren't getting that close again. You're trading a chance at a hail mary for a chance at a long field goal.

You know, to be honest, I like that Zook doesn't do things by the book. It can be pretty entertaining.

He gets grief when it doesn't work, like yesterday I guess. But, he doesn't get much credit when it does, like when they beat OSU by going for it on 4th down in their own territory with the lead back in the Rose Bowl season. He lets players try to win the game. It's not boring.

And sometimes, he just forgets the score and does stupid shit. Good times.

I've watched 3 or 4 Badgers games and he's played really well. The hard thing now is he still hasn't been 'challenged'. Wisconsin has pretty much rolled over everyone - Next weekend will be a nice test at East lansing. I dont think the Spartans have enough offense to compete but their D will fight. He's definitely the best qb in the Big Ten. Unfortunately for the Badgers, he doesn't have anymore elgibility after this year. :D

I'm always entertained when he forgets that timeouts stop the clock. And that each team gets them. Didn't use them in the first half; didn't use them in the second half.

Reminded me of Airplane! when Rex Cramer was asked if they should turn on the runway lights and he responds "No. That's just what they'll be expecting us to do!"

Using the timeouts in the first half would have been stupid. They would have gotten the ball back with 30 seconds, no timeouts, at or inside their own 20, going into the wind. And they would have been saving time for OSU if they decided to take a shot on third and long.

The only decision I had a problem with was the punt in the second quarter.

I would say if Hope has any chance to save his job at Purdue, he needs a win against Illinois, from the people I have heard at Purdue, they were impressed with Purdue's performance last week against Penn State.

Illinois coming off a loss, could be vulnerable.

Man, I hope Illinois can right the ship. Would be quite disheartening if they went out an laid an egg against Purdue.

This is the season defining game for Purdue. Only way they get to a bowl game is to win this game and either Iowa/Ohio State and Indiana. The Purdue running game is starting to come around.

Danny Hope vs. Ron Zook is the type of coaching chess match that you live for.

Michigan St. DE Ghoulston is suspended for tomorrow nights game against the mighty Badgers.
Should still be a good game.
