For the sake of clarity, I don't hate the entire region. Lets just safely say there's a sizable percentage there that doesn't want my presence or business (just like in most of IL, MO or IN) and if for no other reason than my own safety, I don't want to be there either.

I don't know Arkansas, but I've heard surprisingly good things  . I love south Louisiana and certain metro areas of Texas. I like south Florida and even the Carolinas in an odd way. I flat don't care much about Tennessee, but I am disturbed by "Nashville". :D

From personal experience, I do hate Mississippi, Alabama, North LA & Georgia. Fortunately I stopped being guilt-ed into going to family reunions down there 20 years ago. One day I may go back to Atl for a class reunion, but the odds on that are long.

Finally, I agree that millions will watch the games. But, if 3 of the 4 teams are from the states of Alabama and Mississippi, I firmly believe that the ratings will come in 1/4 to 1/3 lower than originally projected. Involving either MS team OR even more than one from Alabama will be a ratings "disaster". No one cares about MS & everyone is tired of both Auburn and Alabama/Saban. Imo.

It sucks for Notre Dame, and I'd be mad if I were a Notre Dame fan, but it also is the reality of the situation they have chosen. Not playing in a conference is going to be held against them for some stupid and some rational reasons.

They still have a good path to the tournament unless the SEC gets 3 in, which for the first time seems possible.

They're playing with house money to me. I expected a 2-3 loss season

It's more fun to root against Notre Dame when they are actually good.

Maybe next year they will be.

I know. I can't believe the energy spent by so many on negative rooting.

2001 Fiesta Bowl was the zenith of my Notre Dame hate...certainly helped that I jokingly had been rooting for Oregon State for a couple years before that...ever since they've I've been fairly indifferent to them (national championship a few years ago was a wash because...fuck...SEC...)

I am going to the Louisville game in two weeks. I'm sure it won't be cold or anything and it will be exciting to watch the Irish make their run for the Hula Bowl.

I enjoyed it very much. Brian Kelly is easy to root against.

Brian Kelly is an idiot. I'd like to know why in the world he would go for a 2-point conversion when they scored a TD to make it 40-29. That cost them the game.

I'm guessing perhaps it is because the kicker sucks. Did you see the end of the first half?

I was wrong about Notre Dame this year. They just aren't a good team. Hope they get a good matchup in a bowl game or else....

I can't possibly admit to being right or wrong about Northwestern, because I don't even know how a sane person could explain that team this year.
