As reported by ESPN: "Offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley will succeed Stoops, who will remain with OU in some capacity."

Wow, this is really a shocking development. My first thought is that there is going to be some scandal that comes out or that
he had some kind of health scare and is pulling back on the reins to spend more time with his family. I wonder if he ends up
being like Assistant AD or something and still wields a little power from behind the scenes, much like Alvarez tried to do with
Sconnie.

He has at least one HS aged son who is a college-level FB player. Also has two adjacent townhouses in the Gold Coast... of Chicago. That's odd.

Maybe he wanted to make sure the OC got a shot at this job so he waited until they really had no other choices.

Fingers crossed for scandal.

Haven't had a good college football scandal in a while.

Must be something big, if it is a scandal. No one cared when he kept Joe Mixon on the team after he knocked out that blonde. No one even mentioned Stoops in that.

I'm going with health issue.

I would think so, but he said a couple times it was not about his health. Then again, his father had health issues--heart issues--at his age. I think he died during one of the games (he was a coach at Stoops' high school in Ohio).

I bet he is just sick of recruiting. Working in a tv booth is probably an easier gig.

Still don't get the Chicago connection though. His wife is a bigwig with Mary Kay, which is based in Texas. I wonder if Notre Dame or The Beloved are in his future.
