He wants 5 mil a year, there only going 4 so far.

Update on Louisville's pursuit of Jeff Brohm - FootballScoop
Zach Barnett

As the college football world waits for white smoke to appear out of Jeff Brohm’s home in West Lafayette, it’s worth taking a moment to recall where Louisville’s pursuit of the Purdue head coach stands. Below is what FootballScoop wrote on Monday:

Sources tell FootballScoop that Brohm, through his agent, put that chip on the table in discussions with Louisville about their opening. Brohm wants years and dollars commensurate with what they see as a process that will take time to rebuild. The ask, we’re told, is meaningful but not what anyone in major college football these days would consider over the top. Thus far, Louisville’s side has maintained that there are other viable options who would accept less and that Brohm should be “more reasonable.”

In further conversations with sources, Brohm’s camp requested a salary north of $5 million, while Louisville AD Vince Tyra wanted to keep the figure closer to $4 million.

Ousted Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino made just shy of $4 million in 2018 and is now owed eight figures in buyout money.

While Louisville does owe hefty buyout figures to Petrino as well as former AD Tom Jurich and basketball coach Rick Pitino, sources told FootballScoop the University of Louisville Athletic Association has the money to meet Brohm’s asking price and wants Tyra to close the deal.

Amid reports that a final resolution is expected today, sources say disagreements about Brohm’s possible salary is what has drawn the process out is far. With Brohm’s decision still up in the air, sources said Louisville has further meetings planned for tonight with the goal of getting the former Cardinals quarterback back in black and red.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.

Just how many mega donors does Louisville have, aside from John Schlatter?

Louisville is really an odd situation as far as school, campus, sports, money etc.

Things can change but nearly all signs point to him signing an extension with Purdue as early as this afternoon. The Louisville media has been saying it was a done deal for weeks and even they have started to change their tone.

Do you have a news source on this? I hope he stays, but I have only seen reports that his going to Louisville is a done deal.

All the reports of it being a done deal are gone.

I think you need to read it again.

Even the Louisville insiders who were confident throughout say it is 50/50 at best.

By the way, Tyler Trent will be the one who breaks the news.

It says nothing like that in that article. Maybe you are thinking of something else.

I know. I'm saying that article doesn't say it is a done deal.

The Louisville AD is telling them he thinks he is coming. That's it.

I just have not seen anything saying Purdue is giving him a big extension. Not that they should have to. He's been good all things considered, but it's not like he's taken them to a major bowl. These schools throw money at anyone with a pulse.

If he stays he will get an extension and be paid $5 to $6 million a year. That is a lock.

That would put him at close to top ten in college football.

Yup. It could go even higher but it seems like Louisville has pushed him more about coming home than money. It's been calculated that he has increased football revenue at least $8 million over his two years here with a large increase projected next year.

If Louisville wins out in this, it is because going home was too much to overcome.

I don't know what the better job is. There is not much of a recruiting base in Indiana, especially with three other division one teams in the state, but at least it's a Big Ten job with some tradition. Louisville is new money in a football secondary conference. I've heard it's more of a commuter school as well, but I don't know much about campus life.

I would lean towards Purdue. It's annoying that Purdue no longer plays Notre Dame annually, but I guess that's not as important as it once was.

If he doesn't take the Louisville job they will offer it to his son.

Pretty impressive on his part.

Gotta think if he wont leave for home that he wont leave for anywhere.

Nice sentiment that he cares. Shows he’s got some character.

More than likely he looked at both teams and thought Louisville sucked and would rather stick with Purdue until his QB and WR leave.

USC, FSU & maybe Michigan will likely be open next year, why settle for a program plagued by scandals and financial pressures.

Sounds like Purdue may have went to 6.

There will be plenty of better jobs like those mentioned above. He will also get tired of being out recruited by PJ at some point and won't like finishing behind him in their side of the conference each year.

I look forward to his future battles with Coach Fitz over which coach will retain a .500 career record in the big ten

Well, Brohm underachieved this year at 6-6, so I can't wait to see what he does next year with some pretty major talent upgrades.
