So, who will it be. For what it's worth, Urban Meyer is saying he's not a candidate...so you can damn well bet he's trying to figure out how to get out of Jacksonville now. |

I feel like ND should be a recruiting layup. There are so many kids who grow up in ND families and you should be able to win against MI, WI, and OSU often enough to build a Midwest powerhouse. There are also an odd number of ND fans in NY/NJ. But the SEC is a real problem. They are stocked with NFL talent. Somehow you need to build connections in CA, FL and TX. |

However, they really try to push that mystique that they're all about education by making most of these kids be actual student athletes, unlike the SEC and other football factories. I found an article from a couple of years ago...the year the playoffs were ND, Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State. ND was at 91% graduation. Bama and Clemson were over 80. OSU was at 69% O-H-I-O ND won't truly compete for an actual championship unless they dumb themselves down, or join a conference. They're good enough to be the 3-4 seed when the Big 10, ACC, or Big 12 shit all over themselves for a season and they go 12-0 or 11-1. It's been better for them playing an ACC heavy schedule because the schedule toughness is in better shape than when they play a pure Indy schedule. |

He might be a better coach today than Kelly. His eye will always be on the OSU job, but you can live with that as Ryan Day is only 42 and younger than Fickell. It may never open in his career. |

My dad hated Holtz, but I said they will never do better. He recruited like nobody’s business and the players played hard for him. NFL rosters were stocked with ND players back in those days. |

I never cared for red faced Kelly or his inability to win the big game. But he will go down as one of the best coaches and brought a lot of consistency to the program. He worked out a heck of a lot better than I ever expected. All that said, the halftime interview of him during the Alabama National Championship game was one of the funniest things. He looked like he had been run over by a truck and could not come up with anything coherent to say. |

Brian Kelly will always be a douche but that speech was pretty fair. Is their a "right way" to take a new job? |

I've never heard a player say he really loved the guy and playing for him. I doubt they were shedding tears. |

I wonder if he really got sentimental and is trying to believe this or if he is just spouting out what he thinks he should say? Either way, he's a dumbass. |

Notre Dame as an on the job training for a never been head coach who has only been a coordinator for less than five whole seasons. No time to learn on the job in the MAC or at a less demanding program. Go win titles coach. |

Freeman has really turned the defense around this year, and meshes well with the kids. I'm guessing this will be a situation where he runs the defense and they shell out a bunch of money to keep Tommy Rees around to run the offense...they're high on both of them, and are probably doing what it takes to keep them from jumping to LSU with Kelly considering even without a playoff game, they're going to be playing a New Year's 6 bowl and need to keep some sort of continuity with the team. |

Bears draft pick in 2009. BEARRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSS! He's a very young guy with a light resume for a premiere position, but it's not that dissimilar to Ryan Day |

It is not what I would do in that spot, but I dont think it is a disaster waiting to happen. The guy seems to be a rising star according to just about everyone who has been around him. He seems to really excel at recruiting, and he has done a really good job with the defense. If he keeps someone solid running the offense and he is able to recruit well then he will do fine. |

The guy who followed Brian Kelly was likely to get fired anyways. He set a high standard and Notre Dame fans will be looking for Urban Meyer after the first 8 win season. |
