I think Villanova takes a huge dip as a basketball program and in the level of difficulty to gain admission.

Jay Wright might be the best coach in college basketball. Not many people would win as much as he did with his talent.

Knicks fans already have him replacing Thibs and reuniting with Brunson.

Why didn't he want a year long retirement tour?

I didn't realize he had been at Villanova for 20 years. He did an amazing job of building that program from almost nothing.

Difficult to win more than 1 national championship for a college coach. Those who do often win both with the same set of core players, a year or two apart. Jay Wright had Brunson, Bridges and DiVincenzo for both.

Somehow Calipari's been limited to 1.

It's definitely a blow to the Big East, that was its preeminent program. Although, I dig the name of the replacement. DePaul should go out and try to hire some guy named Phil Uranus.

I don't think it was nothing but definitely not perennial tournament team. They were less than 20 years removed from a previous national championship and were competitive when the Big East was the Beast of the East.

I don't quite remember late 90s villanova but I don't think they sunk as low as say, St. John's or DePaul
