The brackets are set. ASU gets the top seed (national seeds in parentheses). UConn got screwed with a #2 seed in the Florida St regional. UCLA is easily the toughest regional. With all their pitching you have to like Texas but they drew a tough regional with Rice. Missouri Valley conference champ Illinios St gets a #3 seed while big 10 champ Minnesota gets a #4 seed. I see Southern Miss is in. I'm not sure if Favre was coming back with just a regional birth or if they had to make it to Omaha. I am more interested in if Illinois Wesleyan can win a DIII title in Appleton tomorrow. |

There are 32 games today and some OUTSTANDING matchups and who does ESPNU decide to show us?? New Mexico vs Stanford and Minnesota vs Cal St Fullerton. Sheesh. At least we'll be able to watch Cal St fullerton SS Christian Colon who should be a top 10 pick in Mondays draft. |

They had to upset a few teams and win their conference just to get there and once they were there they mowed down all opponents. |

I was just wondering with the College World Series starting up, I kinda follow it a little bit, Miami mostly, do you like the best of 3 for the championship or wish is it was still 1 game for it all. I liked 1 game for all of it, following the Canes, you get LSU's Warren Morris winning homerun, then beat Flordia State and Marshall Mcdougal, and then Stanford 12-1. |

In a major upset #4 seed Minnesota beat Cal St Fullerton 3-1. Minnesota was the only #4 seed to beat a #1 seed. It took 13 innings for #2 Vanderbilt to beat #3 Illinios St 8-7 and bail out Vanderbilt head coach who decided to hold back ace Sonny Gray for today's matchup against Louisville. There were a couple other minor upsets. #3 Louisiana-Lafayette defeated #2 Rice 1-0. #3 Citadel defeated #2 Virginia Tech and they didn't use ace (and future White Sox draft pick??) Asher Wojciechowski . #3 Oregon defeated #2 Connecticut 5-3. Arkansas rolled over Grambling 19-7. |

Minnesota won again last night defeating New Mexico 6-4 in 10 innings. They will play the winner of Cal St Fullerton and New Mexico (Stanford has been eliminated). Illinios St beat St Louis (who has been eliminated) 8-3 yesterday then lost to Vandy today and has been eliminated. #2 seed Mississippi has also been eliminated. Arkansas beat Washington St 6-4 and will play the winner of Washington St and Kansas St. |

Post subject: | Re: The road to Omaha |
No, they don't. The higher seed hosts the super regional which is best of 3. Arkansas plays at Arizona St. Here's a link to the brackets. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/bracket?id=5235663 |

Yeah that's a tough draw. I hope they show that series and the Texas vs TCU series. They both have some serious pitching and the winner of that series may end up winnng it all. Miami beat Texas A&M so the super regionals are set. Five teams from the SEC , four ACC, two Pac 10, two Big 12 and one from the Big South, Mountain West and Big West |

Florida St won game one 9-8 on a home run in the bottom of the 9th. FSU got out to a 6-0 lead after 2 innings but Vandy battled back to tie the game late. TCU vs Texas is on now. Freshman LHP Matt Purke (13-0 3.40 ERA) is pitching for TCU against Junior Cole Green (11-1 2.63 ERA). Green was a 5th round pick by the Tigers and Purke will be a top pick in next years draft (probably 2nd behind Rice 3B Anthony Rendon). |

Cal St. Fullerton must play about 200 games, because every time I turn my damn t.v. on they are playing. |

I don't follow college baseball, so my opinion doesn't mean much, but "single elimination" baseball just feels wrong to me. |

Post subject: | Re: The road to Omaha |
It's not single elimination. The first round is 4 team double elimination brackets, the second round is 2 teams best-of-three series, and the world series is eight teams split in to two, four team double elimination brackets with the winner of each bracket playing in the best-of-three series. |
