The winner will be announced today. The finalists are Bryce Harper (Southern Nevada), Chris Duffy (Central Florida), Yasmani Grandal (University of Miami), Drew Pomeranz (Ole Miss) and Chris Sale (Florida Gulf Coast). I'm going with Grandal. Past winners: 2009- Stephen Strasburg- San Diego St 2008- Buster Posey- Florida St 2007- David Price- Vanderbilt 2006- Tim Lincecum- Washington 2005- Alex Gordon- Nebraska 2004- Jared Weaver- Long Beach St 2003- Rickie Weeks- Southern 2002- Khalil Greene- Clemson 2001- Mark Prior- USC 2000- Kip Bouknight- South Carolina |

Bryce Harper won the 2010 Golden Spikes award, given to the country's top amatuer baseball player. Harper, the #1 pick in June's MLB draft hit .443 31 HR 98 RBI for Southern Nevada Community College. Harper is the second junior college player (Alex Fernandez 1990) and first freshman to win the award. |
