If a team is pinned back up against the goal line, does the entire ball have to come back across the goal line for it to not be a safety or does the tip of the ball just have to break the line?

Florida game? Any part of the ball = safety.

No not the Florida game, it was from a high school game I was at last night. Score 10-8 in favor of home team. Home team holds on a 4th and goal from inches away from the goal line. There are still about 40 seconds left in the game so the home team has to snap the ball 2 times because the away team had one time out left. On both snaps they ran a QB sneak and when the QB gets the ball from the snap he is in the endzone and he moves forward just barely on both plays. The away team was going crazy saying he had to get the entire ball past the goal line and it should be a safety. So I was just curious if the entire ball had to get past the goal line or if the tip of the ball breaks the goal line if that is enough.

I believe that any part of the ball touching the endzone line is a ball in goal. So I think that the ball must completely cross the line back into play.

RFDC- It is hard to get a safety called, unless you are clearly tackled in the end zone, because the refs give the benefit of the doubt to the offense. Since you said it was high school, there is no replay, so the team could have been stopped, but to the ref it looked like they got out, on quarterback sneaks it's hard to see everything going on.
