They almost pulled off the upset tonight, but they couldn't quite get past Western Carolina. |

What the hell did you expect? I know it's only 2 games, but new head coach Oliver Purnell's got quite a rebuilding project on his hands at DePaul! This rebuilding project is going to take a lot of time! Anyone who thinks DePaul's doing squat this season is kidding themselves! You know it, I know it, Coach Purnell knows it, ZZ & LoHo know it! |

Which is fair enough. It's just too bad that the increased cash has twice meant taking lower profile jobs. Once I can understand, but twice is a trend. Is he making $2M per year? If so, I believe that put him in the upper echelon NCAABB coaching salaries. |

Very little is expected from Oliver Purnell's Blue Demons this season and are picked last again this season in that rugged league! I don't know what the hell people are expecting from this team! To a certain extent, I feel sorry for LoHo, ZZ and even Stephen Howard having to call that garbage on 670 The SCORE! |

The reason DePaul stays in the Big East is simple - Money. With revenue sharing in place, DePaul rakes in some 2M a year from the Big East which is probably close to 15% of their total revenues for the athletic department. (Recent figures are their revenues are on the 15M a year) |

Moving to a better aligned regional conference would reduce expenses (read: travel costs). But it would also reduce revenues since you get 10K for a weekend DePaul/Louisville game, but what would a weekend DePaul/Richmond-St.Bonaventure (A10) or DePaul/Wright State (Horizion) bring in? 5K? |

I'm curious to see where they could possibly be getting that much money, if basketball only earns 15% and they don't have a football team. Donations from boosters? I'd think everything else would be pretty low-revenue. |

By the way, good luck finding a DePaul game on TV. Once upon a time, the Blue Demons were on WGN Radio 720 and on WGN Television everywhere. These days, unless you have WMEU 48, the Weigel-owned station known as MeTOO, ThisTV, which is a collaboration between Weigel & the famous MGM lion, or the ESPN Full Court package, DePaul games on TV are very, very rare. |

I would agree that the overall figures seem high. It's probably the best that can be reported since they are not a public institution. |

Down 26 with two minutes left at Indiana State. Though they did just beat NIU. So they have that going for them. Which is nice. |

RPI really is not a useful tool for ranking teams. That being said... UIC - 243 Chicago State - 252 NIU 282 WIU - 311 DePaul - 319 |

In fairness to DePaul, though, two of their wins have come against teams in that group. KenPom has DePaul as underdogs in every Big East game. |
